Beginning of the end of the spread?

Beginning of the end of the spread? was created by Getdown11
With Franklin getting fired at Auburn and UF not really living up to the Tebow hype do you guys think the spread offense is coming to an end in the SEC. I know Tubbs said he was sticking to it, but so far I haven't really been impressed with most of the teams I've seen running it.

SI had an article a while back talking about the key to stopping the spread is pressure from the front 4 and excellent linebacker play. It seems to me most teams in the SEC can do this pretty well (USCw and OU too.) What do you guys think?

The way I see it the top 2 teams in the country run a pro style offense so that has to say something.

The spread is a gimmick offense designed for teams who don't have the calliber athletes necessary to run a traditional I-formation pro-style offense. It makes sense for teams in the WAC but not the SEC. We don't need to run a gimmick offense in the SEC because we have the best athletes in the country.

The spread allows teams with third-tier recruits to win against teams with second-tier recruits who try to run a traditional offense but can't run it at an elite level. The spread will never enable a team with sub-par athletes to win against a PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED pro-set, which the SEC has no problem doing.

Hawaii is a perfect example of how it doesn't work in the SEC.
