The Kicking Game

A few thoughts about our kicking game.

Kickoffs in particular. I live in Florida and have followed Blair Walsh for some time. Surprising to me that his game has faltered a bit. I know that he has the leg to put the ball in the end zone on kickoffs. Not sure what the problem is, did not expect this from this FRESHMAN. On this board I have probably been the most supportive of BW. The last couple of weeks, prior to USC, I thought that it was part of the game plan to \"place\" the football. However, I could not have been further from what the coaching staff wanted from BW. Reminds me a bit of Matt Stafford when he took his first snaps at QB. Made some mistakes and CMR did not like what he saw from a FRESHMAN QB, regardless of his talent prior to putting the college uniform on. Hoping that BW finds or corrects his problem with kickoffs. For sure we can't give the rest of our schedule the ball at the 35 or 40 yard line and expect our team to escape many of the pitfalls that will surely come our way with SHORT kickoffs. . . . .

Buc, you hit the nail with the hammer. Field position is every thing in football.
SEC jitters, that;s all, I hope.

Yeah, you would think if he can get the timing and everything down on a field goal, a kick off should be easy. I hope he gets it together, we need every edge we can get, including the field position edge.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Sometimes it gets to the point where after one bad kick, then he would start \"trying\" to make a good kick. He could be trying too hard to do it right, instead of letting it happen naturally. Hope this is the case.

I am with all of you on this. Know all of you understand the game in great detail. Guess the point I am trying to make is that I want the best person for the position, state lines or homerism should never enter into the criteria. Glad we pulled this one out fellas, I truly enjoy the victory a little more because of the person on the \"other\" sideline. He really relished in the beatings that he put on UGA, guess we have the same right to \"wallow in the mud\". He was visibly upset several times yesterday. On the other side of the field, enjoyed watching CMR doing his thing. Go Dawgs!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Four wlaytons to all. :P

I'm thinking that Blair Walsh had the same shutdown against SCarolina that the rest of the team had. With the exception of A.J. Green, everyone, even Knowshon, had an off-day. This should pick up against ASU, who royally screwed us by losing to UNLV the week before we play them...grumble...
