The Night Before

For what this is worth.

I am hoping that tomorrow we run, run and run some more. We have a stable of backs that are young, but highly touted and in the case of KM, have shown that they deserve to carry the pigskin.

Time for us to find out just what we have on the offensive front. Press (mewspapers, tabloids) are one thing, cleats in the turf, quite another. These young players need a game against a defense that is highly touted, and SC is respected for their defense. Much will be learned about this UGA front that will face one of the better defenses in the SEC. Some of these young folks are going to grow up tomorrow, and it will give us a better picture of where we are as a team.

Defensively, this is a group of players that will also learn a lot tomorrow. We can't be sure what Spurrier will throw at us, knowing that he loves to beat UGA. I have the feeling that if we come out of this game with a confidence that comes from a victory, this UGA team will be incredibly hard to handle the rest of the season. Something about this game leads me to believe that much of the expectations most of us have about our team will be shown. I truly feel that if we come out with a victory, we have a chance to do some things that we have not done since Mr. Walker. Just my opinion . . . this game is crucial.

Much has been said recently about Matt Stafford leaving for the NFL. Same things being said about others. I make this prediction . . . Matt ain't going anywhere except between the hedges in Athens. Same for Knowshon, he ain't going anywhere. We are so lucky to have athletes like these two, but that comes with good, solid recruiting. Yes, we have talent, a lot of talent, and tomorrow we will get to witness just how far these young men have come . . . IN A SHORT TIME.

Last thing that I am going to say tonight . . . if we come out of South Carolina with a one point win, suits me just fine. Do not care if we win by 50 points, this is the SEC and I will take whatever the Dawgs can muster up tomorrow. One last point, Georgia Southern in my opinion was a good football team, I will be watching them the rest of the year. Guess that shows my Erk feelings, wear them on my sleeve. Always felt that he should have been the Head Coach at UGA.

Wishing all of you UGA folks a good evening and let us see if we can repay the Gamecocks for their venture into Athens last year.

GO DAWGS! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

a college football season, like life, is a journey composed of many steps.

the SC game is not just one step, but now it is the next step. from here on out the focus must be one step at a time. you trip up when you do not watch the next step, one misp-step and you loose your balance (or perspective).

UGA plays, arguably, the toughest schedule of any Division 1 school this season (can't come to accept that BCS crap, its' still Division 1). They must run the table to claim the prize. Like Coach Richt told the team when they were chosen as the pre-season #1, to paraphrase, it is the ranking after the season that defines what you have accomplished, not what you're ranked at the beginning of the season. in my opinion, one of the greatest things that has happened to the this team so far is falling from #1 to #2 after that first game. in my opinion the best thing for them would be to keep #2 until after the victory in Miami.

from top to bottom this is the best mix of players that UGA has fielded. the talent is there but it is the coaching that must keep the players grounded and focused week in and week out. if this is done, they will be national champions and no one, no one can deny them that. if Matt, Knowshon, etc. decide to stay, next year will be that much better!

any way you look at it, it is going to be one helluva year and one we'll all remember for a long time!:woohoo:

GO DOGS!!!!

I am with you BUC. Could not have said it better, or as well as you did.

This is a test that must be passed by the entire team. Pass the test, and there is no limit. I feel they will pass the test with flying colors.

gri5thj, your right. You have to take each game of the season one game at a time. You can't be concentrating on 3 or 4 games down the road. As a fan YES, you can but as a player NO. Now, let me say you can have big games circled on the calender, but you cannot over look the present game. You have to play one game at a time. Because if you don't; then yes, you will trip and fall. If our guys go out and play Georgia football and only worry about this week then we will be fine, but if they start looking down the road at the GAYTORS or Bama, then we will trip.
