We should have won last year if our offense would have been marginally productive. Instead, we settled for 4 FGs and ended up taking the loss at home.

Under Mark Richt, we have had at least one complete offensive shutdown per year in a perfectly winnable game.

2001: Well, take your pick. I'm picking Boston College.
2002: Florida. God, that one still hurts.
2003: Florida again
2004: Tennessee. Auburn's defense was far too good to qualify that loss as an offensive shutdown.
2005: Florida, yet again
2006: Florida, one more time
2007: South Carolina

So I think the key to this year's success is simply to not have one of those. If the offense is CONSISTENT then Georgia can run the table. Pure and simple.

I'm gonna ramble for a while here folks so please bear with me:

For ONCE, I would love to see the Dawgs score a TD early and take control of the game. I mean, correct me if my memory is failing, but last year, didn't we take the opening kickoff and w/the help of 2 personal foul penalties, we made it down inside of the SC 30 yd. line and then, low and behold, Coutu misses the FG attempt. I remember turning to my buddies right when that kicked sailed wide and saying, well, here we go again, it's gonna be a struggle all day long and boy, what a struggle it was! Now, I really don't want to see a repeat of last year when our only offense comes in the form of a kicking leg but w/o a doubt, we're gonna be counting on the Freshman to make some kicks in a hostile environment. Yep, it's time for the old baptism by fire for young Blair.

Anyways, I can't help but thinking back to last year's game while thinking about tomorrow. Our team really needs to come out with lots of emotion and intensity! Why is it that the SC players seem to be more jacked up than the UGA players for this game? It's a freaking border rival; what's it gonna take for our team to get the hate  going against the Gamechickens? Do yall think we need to put some orange jerseys on the SC players so that our team will think we are playing Auburn or Florida or Tennessee? Last year, IMHO, it looked like the SC team WANTED it more and there is no valid excuse whatsoever for that.

The players and coaches really just need to remember how pitiful the SC made our entire team look last year. My gosh, Stafford was 19-45, that's God awful and we all know that at least 3 or 4 of those pass attempts hit our receivers in the hands but were not secured. We went 3-18 on 3rd down conversions, again, that is pathetic! Our D needs to do better than allowing 140 yards rushing and letting SC's QB go 20-31, that's darn near a 66% completion percentage. What were we doing, trying to make Tim Tebow wear Blake Mitchell pajamas!

As usual, I am more worried than a mouse in a snake cage about the game tomorrow. You will see that I am predicting a closer game than anybody else on this forum besides our misguided friend, GamecockInGA. I really hope I am dead wrong and the Dawgs will beat the Cocks so badly that Spurrier's visor doesn't even make it through the 3rd quarter but as we all know to well, this game is almost always a nail-biter til' the end. Why should we expect anything differently tomorrow? In all honesty, SC has played Vandy who contrary to popular belief, really does have some high caliber athletes while the Dawgs haven't yet seen the level of competition and talent that we will see tomorrow outside of our own team scrimmages. The speed and intensity of the game is about to rise to a whole new level and our true Freshman are gonna have to grow up quick!

Like CMR said, we are about to get a “REAL TEST” from SC and we cannot afford to flunk it! If the Dawgs play with emotion and can execute the game plan we should be fine and get out of Columbia with a win. I want a blowout but if we only win by 1 point this Dawg fan will be grinning from ear to ear. To quote Al Davis, JUST WIN BABY!

The REAL season begins tomorrow with our first taste of SEC football!
Get ready for one helluva battle in Columbia!
Get em' CRUNK Coach Richt & let's go FEAST ON SOME CHICKENS!

GooseDawg78, two things......I agree with you about scoring early. If we could take the opening kickoff and stick it down their throats and score, I believe they will fold their tent after last week. Secondly, you are not going to have to worry about them being up for this game.....1. Revenge 2. Expectations for the year 3. The coaches won't let it happen....believe they learned alot from UT last year 4. 1st SEC game....a MUST win.

Close early but our talent will prevail and win by 2 TDs.

I agree with you 100%. We need to come out of the gate like there is no tomorrow. I was watching Coach Richt's press conference and they kept showing all those missed completions.
As nervous as I am, I've got a good feeling about this game. Call me crazy but I expect a great game from our Dawgs.

averagedawg.....I believe we have \"the swagger\" and that we will come out and take it straight to them. Also believe Bobo has a lot of confidence in this offense and will not be as conservative as in the past but will open it up, just like we have been playing. Just don't think he will deviate from what we have been doing...and successfully, I might add. Being an ex QB, you know Bobo has always wanted to be aggressive but he's been limited somewhat. Well he's not limited now...he has more weapons and options than he's ever had. Believe he will turn them loose!!
