Jeff Owens lost for season

Just saw that it's official, arguably the Dawgs best defensive tackle and leader. You really have to feel for guys like this, all the hard work to have an injury this early on. I think this is a big deal for the Dawgs but there doesn't seem to be a lot of concern about filling the void, only for Jeff's well being.

I wish him well. We will have to throw some of those young pups into the fire.

Tough loss and tough on Jeff and his family. According to CMR he is taking it well and with a positive attitude. Quality young man, and quality coach.

i heard CMR say he hasnt redshirted and was going to look in to it. anyone else hear that or heard anything else about it

You can't redshirt if you play a down in regulation. Medical hardship waiver would be the only thing available to him.

I thought that too, dawgboy, but on Coach Richt's show he said he has a year of eligibility and he won't need any waivers or anything. Maybe because GS is Division 1-AA? georgiadogs.com also says he has a year and will be back in '09.
