While the world watches in wonder as Michael Phelps tries to become the first man to win 8 gold medals in a single olympics, the greatest olympic feat of all time just might be taking place right under everone's noses.
When Sheila Taormina competes in the Modern Pentathlon in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it will be her fourth olmpic games...in her third sport. Taormine won a swimming gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay. After the games, she shifted her focus to triathlon and competed in triathlon for the US in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics where she finished 6th and 23rd, respectively. In 2008, she qualified for the US Modern Pentathlon Olympic team and will represent her country in the Olympics for the fourth time in three different sports, the first American athlete to ever do so.
So, over the past 12 years and 4 Olympics, Sheila has become an Olympic calliber athlete in the disciplines of swimming, cycling, running, pistol shooting, fencing, and equestrian show jumping.
