Well, here it is, Dawg fans......Sports Illustrated just gave us the kiss of death by ranking us #1 and putting us on the cover of their football preview issue, which is due out on the market today.......The last time they put an SEC team on the cover was when Auburn was put on there back in 03....and they proceeded to lose the first 2 out of 3, and ended up going 8-4. I hope we can overcome the SI jinx.
Being from Tucson, I remember when SI picked Arizona as #1 after they hammered Miami in the Fiesta Bowl the season before. I think the Wildcats and the much vaunted Desert Swarm defense ended up 8-4.
Sometimes I think the no 1 ranking is more a determent to a team than anything else.
