At a program known for its tailbacks, Robert Edwards often gets overlooked. The first real star to wear #47 (before David Pollack came along), Robert was a force in the mid-nineties that many SEC teams found unstoppable. If you go back and watch the Miracle on the Plains, Bobo-to-Allen becomes even more special because it's one of the only passes in the game. Once we figured out that Auburn couldn't stop Edwards, we ran him right, left and up the middle. And they really couldn't stop him. He was certainly a force.

After a stellar first year with the Patriots, rushing for 1115 yards, Robert blew out his knee in a rookie flag football game and didn't play football again until 2002. He was told that he might never walk again and was awarded the Talas Award for his courageous comeback from that devastating injury.

Here's the place for all of your great Robert Edwards memories. Keep 'em coming!!!

I will always love Edwards for the 97 game against FLA. The side line run where it looked like he was going out of bounds and BAM! he cut up field. It was beautufil.

The whole thing was all the more special listening to Munson argue with Scott over whether the game was over.

He was one of the few bright spots of the nineties.

Robert Edwards vs Florida was my favorite memory as well...How in the heck did we not win more in the 90's.I always have thought that with some good coaching that in 1997 and 1998 we would have been back to back nat'l champions. We basically had half of the NFL pro bowl roster.

1997: Champ Bailey,Pass,Ward,Gary,Edwards,Grant,Jennings,Stinchcomb,McMichael,Stroud and Seymour just to name a few.

1998: Wansley,Champ Bailey,Boss Bailey,Pass,Carter,Gary,Gilbert,Witherspoon, Grant,Jennings, Stichcombs,Phillips,McMichael,Seymour, Stroud,and Mallard.

No excuse with talent like that.
