Georgia football players Trinton Sturivant and Justin Anderson were both placed on probation by the University after engaging in disorderly conduct when they \"touched a woman on her stomach without consent\" that \"made her feel uncomfortable.\"
The two players, who signed an informal resolution with the Office of Judicial Programs, will be placed on probation through the 2008 calendar year, must complete an educational program focused on gender issues, personal boundaries and the ramifications of their behavior, and are restricted from having contact with Trina Bailey, the woman who made the complaint against the two. The restriction includes no writing, phone calls, text messages or contact through a third party, and remains in effect until the two end enrollment at UGA.
The charges were a result of a June 27 incident. Bailey alleged the players, who were unknown to her at the time, \"touched her person without her consent\" in the breezeway of East Campus Village, according to the University Police incident report.
Two affidavits filed with the Athens Clarke County Court stated the two \"did intentionally make physical contact of an insulting nature with (the alleged victim), who he does not know, when he approached her and touched her stomach.\"
Earlier this week, Georgia head coach Mark Richt decided not to suspend Sturdivant and Anderson from any games this season.
\"The legal stuff hasn't been (finialized) but I'm handling their discipline in-house,\" Richt said. \"Unless I hear something new, it's a situation that needs to be disciplined but it's going to be an in-house deal and will not turn into any kind of playing time issue.\"
