BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones was kicked off the Tigers' football squad for an unspecified violation of team rules.

LSU coach Les Miles announced the decision Thursday.

\"The issues we had with Jarvis were internal and ones that we dealt with within the framework of our team,\" Miles said in a statement. \"However, we just felt like it was time to go in a different direction. We wish him well in any of his future endeavors.\"

The 6-foot-7 Jones played in seven games last year as a freshman for the Tigers.

Hopefully our defensive line's job just got a little bit easier. Sad to see such talent go to waste. Appears that they have been having problems with him for a while. Come on, is it really that hard to keep your nose clean?

Once practice starts look for these off the field incidents to drop. Not much left at the end of the day after busting your butt in the summer heat.
I think we beat LSU.
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fire_dawg, this is another case of young folks not understanding (maybe). I admire Coach Miles for stepping up. We all hate to lose good football players, but it is not the \"football player\" that matters (read on) . . . it is the \"PROGRAM\" that has to be taken into account. That is not to say that the young men should be shoved overboard, not the case at all. At some point in all of our lives, we have (baseball term) to step up to the plate. Some of these young men have never been held accountable, but when these young folks reach a certain age . . . they have to accept accountability. Talent is such a awful thing to be wasted. Just takes me back to a lot of folks with pasts that were not loaded with money and advantages. Example . . . Warrick Dunn. Go Dawgs!
