Help with Herschel Trivia

I think Donnie McMickens or maybe Carnie Norris.

McMickens was the starter for the Tennessee game. He was a 5th year Sr at the time, had played sparingly, and was beaten out by Herschel before the weekend was over.

Clemson was the toughest opponent Herschel faced in college. Much to their chagrin, he signed with UGA after a hot recruiting battle. They then made it their personal mission to shut him down every time they played UGA.....and they did.

It was in fact Donnie McMickens. When they reassembled the 1980 MNC team at the 2005 Kentucky game, I was the only one cheering for McMickens, because I was the only one who knew who he was. That was sad.
