Up and Down on the Diamond

Well, I can't say I'm happy with the Diamond Dawgs' performance in the SEC Tournament, but I also can't say I'm surprised. We always make an early exit, especially in good years. The past three times that we've had \"good\" years ('04, '06, '08), we've won a total of two games in the tournament. In '04 and '06 we went to the CWS, so this bodes well for our chances this year. We still have an excellent chance of hosting both a regional and, should we win there, a super-regional, especially with Tech getting knocked out of the ACC tournament by Miami.

On the other hand, our Lady Diamond Dawgs have won the Chapel Hill regional by beating BYU twice and travel to Los Angeles on Saturday to face UCLA in the super-regional. GO DAWGS!!! Two games away from shocking the softball world and getting into the WCWS!!!

dapolla so many good things going on with the University. Have a real good feeling about this baseball team. Made some outstanding plays against the Bees. Also, tennis team, back to back. Watched that on ESPNu, down two and come back to become National Champs again. Guess the Horns got hooked this time.

And every other time. We almost couldn't have picked a better opponent if we had been given the opportunity; going into the National Championship, our Net Dawgs were 14-2 all-time against the 'Horns. I like those odds, and apparently so did Luis Flores, Travis Helgeson and our other phenomenal Tennis Dawg All-Stars!!!

As far as the baseball team is concerned, it only worries me because we haven't lost two SEC games in a row since (I believe) the Florida series, and this is only the second time this year. As far as the tournament goes I'm not worried; as I said before, we ALWAYS stink in the SEC tourney. I don't even know that we won it in 1990; in fact, I know we weren't SEC champs that year.
