Them Net Dawgs

As always, I will continue to post updates about non-football teams on this forum, and our defending NCAA champion Tennis Dawgs have blanked Ole Miss 4-0 to advance to the semis, one step closer to successfully defending their NCAA championship title. Although they lost their ITA title this year after winning it twice in a row, the Dawgs still have the chance to win the NCAAs twice in a row.

AND THEY HAVE DONE IT!!!! ...almost. Georgia upset #1 Virginia by a 4-3 score yesterday to advance to the NCAA championship matches against Texas tonight at 7:00 pm. And it will be broadcast tonight at 7 on ESPNU. GO DAWGS!!! If you get ESPNU, tune in. If you don't, either tune in on GXtra, or watch it on 5/22 at 3:30 pm on ESPN2.

NOW they have done it! Georgia defeated Texas 4-2 last night after losing the doubles point and the first singles match to go down 0-2. It was truly a tense, white-knuckle affair after Georgia was soundly beaten in doubles play and staff ace Travis Helgeson looked terrible in his first singles set. Then, after dominating early, Luis Flores went down 1-6 in his second set. But we charged back and won our sixth NCAA Championship (and eighth overall, including ITA) in Tulsa, OK, the first one we've EVER won away from Athens.

Beating Texas and Virginia is playing some pretty dang good tennis. Congrats to the Net Dawgs!

How many NCs is that for Georgia this year? 2? 3?

Three thus far: Women's Gymnastics, Equestrian, and Men's Tennis. And we still have the men's and women's CWS and golf championships to go!!!
