Another Greene and Shockley?

Another Greene and Shockley? was created by averagedawg
We've all been raving about Aaron Murray but it seems we've got another winner on our hands, Zach Mettenberger.
I read an interesting article about this kid in the AJC. It seems he's more of a drop back passing type, (David Greene?) while Murray's kind of a scrambler, (D.J. Shockley?).
With all the hype Murray's getting, this kid might be just as talented. He's a smart kid.
Man, it's great to be a Dawg!

averagedawg, that seems to be a good comparison. It appears that both of these guys are leaders, more so than just playing the position. To me that is very important. One of the two will step up at some point and claim the job. If not, could not think of a position that I would rather have two equally qualified players. Zach seems to have the UGA credentials, soon Aaron will.

ad, thought I would throw this little article into the thread. You mentioned Aaron, thought this might put a little light on the subject. Good article, shows the effect of good coaching and principles being accepted by some of todays top athletes. Really like the closeness of the coaches and players.

Thanks Buc. We're getting the kids we want. I've never been so optimisitic in my life. It's good to be a Dawg.
What's encouraging is that these young men are already communicating with each other and becoming part of the team.

Another variation on the subject under discussion here.

I visualize two other names fitting the \"mold\" of Greene/Shockley.
For 2008 season, Stafford/Gray. Stafford, the classic drop back gunner, and Logan Gray, the mobile QB with a very good set of the other essential QB skills.

Both Stafford and Gray have the experience. Yes, yes, Gray has not seen any game action yet at UGA, but he does have a season of running the \"meat\" team. He knows the personnel, the coaches, and by now should know the playbook pretty well. So, in comparison to Murray and Mettenberger, he \"has experience.\" He gets game time this year similar to how Shockley did as a Junior. Then, in 2009, if 2008 went well, the scenario is repeated. Mettenberger and Murray are redshirting and waiting their chance. 2010 comes and now, with two MNC's under our belt, we still have Gray, Murray and Mettenberger for 2010, 11 and 12.

So now, here we are beginning the 2013 season; we have now won 5 consecutive MNC's, and we have signed four 5-star QB prospects. Everyone is concerned that UF is considering eliminating football because of their inability to compete with UGA. UT quit last year...

Now THAT made me smile \"fit tuh split.\"

Seriously, though, we're loaded. I mean USC-at-the-beginning-of-this-decade loaded, except without all of the major recruiting violations they've been caught with recently.

By the way, Southern Cal...you ever heard of the Death Penalty?
