Georgia State is expected to announce that it will field a football team to begin play in 2010:

This doesn't affect UGA because they are division IAA, but Georgia Southern might be in trouble.
They will play home games in the Dome, which instantly gives them one of the top stadiums in IAA and, if Dan Reeves is named head coach to kick things off, I don't see how any IAA calliber recruit wouldn't want to play there. Given the facilities, the names, and the support this endeavor has behind it, I can see them becoming competitive really quickly.
I don't see why anyone would want to play in Statesboro when they can play under Dan Reeves in the Georgia Dome.
They obviously won't draw recruits from Georgia Tech who are starter material, but I can see Tech's depth chart taking a hit as prospects pass up being a bench warmer at the North Avenue Trade School for an opportunity to start at a IAA school in the same city with arguably better facilities.
I hope we schedule them as our IAA opponent to help them out.
Honestly, the team that benefits most from all this is Appalachian State. With Georgia Southern not having free rein over every Georgia high school player that isn't quite DIA material anymore, their recruting is going to nose dive.
