Everytime I think about the upcoming football season, it keeps looking more and more scary.
It occurs to me that if we are going to win the national championship, we are going to have to field one of the best teams of all-time. Not one of the best Georgia teams of all-time, one of the best teams ever in the history of college football.
I have seen several preseason top 25 lists so far that have Georgia, Florida, LSU and Auburn all in the top 10, with Tennessee in the teens somewhere. Arizona state is also in many top 10s and no lower than about 15.
After the second game, we basically don't get a break again all season. Our weakest opponent after Central Michigan is Vanderbilt on Homecoming, and I'm sure I don't need to explain the consequences of taking that game for granted.
We might very well end up having to play like 5 top ten teams next year.
Come to think of it, if the national champion is from the SEC next year no matter who it is, that team will go down as one of the best ever.
