Emmett Smith WAS the man. He was an awesome back. He never did beat UGA while there, and it was a shame that he didn't come back for his senior season. Smith said later that Steve Spurrier was a factor in his decision not to come back. Smith sed Coach Spurrier called him in, told him that his carries were gonna be severly curtailed in his new offense, and told him that he didn't know if there would be a place for him in this new offense. Smith handled it like the class individual that he is. He went out for the draft, had a great career, and never spoke badly about the school or of Coach Spurrier. Even as he told this story in th Atlanta paper, he still never spoke about Coach Spurrier in a negative manner. I wish we could've had him at UGA. Can you imagine that backfield? Smith, Hampton, and Worley......Smith would have beaten out Worley for that other running back slot, though.......
By the way, Terrence Edwards is STILL more known for that drop.....
