Dapolla, the game actually was close. It was a 3 point game halfway through the 4th quarter and UGA won by 7. Florida had more first downs, more yards, etc. so it really was a hard fought battle. Not to take anything away from the Dawgs victory but they were highly favored and 2004 was the Gators worst year in 20 yrs. with a 7-5 record.
The '97 game however was an absolute butt woopin'..... but we still ended that season ranked higher than the Dawgs :D
Another thing, thank God those games were not in Athens as I would hate to see the goal posts being ripped down. Something you'll NEVER see in Gainesville. It's a looser's attitude.

Emmett Smith WAS the man. He was an awesome back. He never did beat UGA while there, and it was a shame that he didn't come back for his senior season. Smith said later that Steve Spurrier was a factor in his decision not to come back. Smith sed Coach Spurrier called him in, told him that his carries were gonna be severly curtailed in his new offense, and told him that he didn't know if there would be a place for him in this new offense. Smith handled it like the class individual that he is. He went out for the draft, had a great career, and never spoke badly about the school or of Coach Spurrier. Even as he told this story in th Atlanta paper, he still never spoke about Coach Spurrier in a negative manner. I wish we could've had him at UGA. Can you imagine that backfield? Smith, Hampton, and Worley......Smith would have beaten out Worley for that other running back slot, though.......:)

By the way, Terrence Edwards is STILL more known for that drop.....
