Spring Practice Injury - Marcus Washington LB

16 years 11 months ago #13532 by GooseDawg78
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like Senior LB Marcus Washington is going to have surgery on his left shoulder and take a medical redshirt and miss the entire 2008 season. I really hate this for him, but in all honesty w/Ellerbe (also a Senior) solidified as our starter at MLB, this might be one of those blessings in disguise if Marcus has a full recovery and returns to assume the starting MLB role in 2009 after Ellerbe graduates.

Still, it's all about TEAM. Some of the other LB's like Dent, Dewberry, Gamble, & Hebron are gonna have to step up. I personally would like to see Darius Dewberry come into his own & really have a great season. In 2005, he was highly touted 4 star recruit out of Peach County high school in Fort Valley, GA. He chose the Dawgs over Auburn, Florida, Tenn, & Clemson and arrived in Athens in 2006 after spending a season at Hargrave in VA. He has all of the physical tools, 6'3\" 235 lbs. with 4.5 speed, he just has to do a better job of reading offenses and putting himself in position to make a play. I think it's time for him to shine.

GOOOOO DAWGS!

I read about that this morning in the Athens Banner-Herald. These things are going to happen. Thank God for our depth.
There was also an interesting article about the demise of the strongside linebacker with all the spread offenses now.
I think our depth is what makes us so formidable this year.

Hey guys, no problem.....watch out for Hebron this year. The dude is so fast he can turn out the light and get into bed before it gets dark.
