Head Coach Mark Rich(t)

Mark Richt just received an $800,000 raise, bringing his pay up to $2.8 million per year. Well-deserved, but thank all the gods there be that he's not a \"highest-bidder\" type of guy. He's only 5th in the SEC, behind Satan ($4 mil), Less Miles (salary undetermined, but winning the NC guarantees him vis-a-vis his contract to become the 3rd-highest-paid coach in the nation), Urban Liar ($3.5 mil), and PEP ($3.05 mil).

This means that the fourth-winningest active coach in the COUNTRY is only the fifth-best paid coach in his own CONFERENCE. This is not so much an indictment of UGA as an indictment of UA for paying Satan so much freaking money. Say what you want about them, but PEP, Liar and Less all won national championships for their institutions. Satan hasn't won anything for 'Bama.

I love having a coach for whom the game is what's important, not his own personal advancement. Keep Richt on the payroll for YEARS to come!

I hope we can keep him until he's ready to retire, i.e. Vince Dooley.

Average, I can't see him going anywhere else in the near future. He seems perfectly happy in Athens. He seems like such a perfect fit for the program, and the program seems like a perfect fit for him.

And he's worth every penny.

To me, he looks like he is perfectly content and he just seems like the kind of person that likes to set his roots and not go anywhere. I believe UGA would have to run him off....believe he would retire a DAWG.

The only reason why head coaches go anywhere is a) for more money or b) for a better chance to win. UGA has taken care of the money issue, and at UGA, with the recruiting pool that we have when we're not Goffing it up, we have as good a chance as anyone in the country to win on a consistent basis. CMR is here, unless MFA decides that he hates Richt's success as much as he hated Dooley's.
