Diamond Dawgs

The Georgia Diamond Dawgs baseball season starts tonight at 5:00 pm (weather permitting) against the #1 Arizona Wildcats. It's been several years since Athens has hosted a #1 team, and I'll be there for the Saturday 2pm game. Support those Diamond Dawgs! We have a good team that a lot of schools may sleep on this year, so keep your eyes and ears open!

I'm assuming you're asking what channel it's on...let's see. Tonight's game is a free (!) webcast on georgiadogs.com, meaning you don't have to be a GXtra subscriber to see it. If you're in the Athens area, you can listen to all three games (and every Georgia baseball game) on 960 AM. But nothing beats going into Foley Field and watching the Dawgs play.

dapolla, good start, better than 0-6. Split with the team that many think is #1 in the country. Believe you might be right, UGA could very well be a sleeper this year.

After having seen Georgia live on Saturday (unfortunately, on the wrong end of a 7-1 score), I agree with you Buc, as long as we shore up our bullpen. Saturday's game was a 2-1 Arizona lead until the bullpen came in and gave up 5 in the 8th and one in the 9th. That's rather ridiculous. In addition, Sunday's 9-8 loss was largely the result of our bullpen. Nathan Moreau held a 4-0 lead when he left after six, having given up only three hits (two of which were bunt singles) and a walk. The bullpen came in and IMMEDIATELY surrendered 5 runs. That's a series we should have won, with our only loss coming 2-1 or 3-1.

I think that Coach Perno is smart enough, however, to realize that the pen needs work. We should wreak some havoc by the time SEC play comes around.

Hope you are right but I'm worried that the bullpen \"is what it is\". Can't make whip cream out of sour cream. Hopefully they'll get better...still so early.
