Naming It For Vince

Well, it's not Sanford-Dooley Stadium or even Dooley Field or Dooley Bridge, but the University has proposed the Vince Dooley Athletic Complex be built before the next school year starts. So, Vince, while it's not all you deserve, congratulations and know that Bulldog Nation appreciates you and loves you.

It is a good gesture and shows respect for Coach Dooley, but why not put the statue in the stadium or right outside of it?....UGA will never be able to repay everything that Vince did for it, but I truly believe it should be \"Vince Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium\", that is probably the highest compliment that we could give him and he deserves it completely. I do appreciate the whole garden and statue idea, but it seems more like a consellation prize from Adams... if you are going to do something like this, I wish Adams would just do it right and name something involving the stadium after Coach Dooley.

This is a very interesting topic, and one that I am quite sure will draw a lot of opinions. When Vince Dooley came to the University of Georgia, it was a good move. A move at that time that concerned the football program. The period between Butts and Dooley was a low time for the program. We went through that same process after Coach Dooley gave up the head coaching job. Along came Mark Richt, reminds me of the period between Butts and Dooley. My question is this. . .If Coach Richt ends up staying for many years, has a better record than all of the other coaches that preceded him . . . is his name included in the re-naming of the stadium . . . Personally, I would agree with Busts of Dooley and Richt (if MR continues on the same path) being placed in or on a preferred site, just truly don't want to see the name of Sanford Stadium changed. As far as Adams, I think that he should step back and take a good look at some of the things he does and says. Like I said, just my opinion. Go Dawgs!

I agree with you Buc on keeping Sanford Stadium, Sanford Stadium. I'm just a huge traditionalist. Certainly want Dooley honored and he deserves all the accolades but like the stadium as is.

All Coach Dooley wants is for his beloved Dawgs to win another NC. I love Coach Dooley and I love Coach Richt. I love the University of Georgia.
