What non-SEC team would you most like UGA to play

16 years 9 months ago #12954 by Buc
wlayton, you go back a ways, and it is hard for me sometimes to realize just how far this program has progressed. I can honestly say that I have never been as excited about UGA football as I am today, promise you that covers a lot of years. You know when I say that I was buying my season tickets from Mrs. Whitehead, I AM DATED. averagedawg ain't far behind.Thank you Lord for allowing some of us \"old farts\" to hang around and watch this program rise to where it is now. \"Go You Silver Britches\".

I big AMEN, Buc....there's still room for us old guys. We can maybe bring a little \"flavor\" to the table...huh?

I tell you Buc, I've never seen so much talent gathering on one team at ANY school, USC or ANYBODY. I've said it numerous times that we are LOADED but now I'm even starting to believe that my comment is grossly UNDERSTATED. Man, talent rolling in and these kids WANT to play for the Dawgs......everyone knows we are going to be loaded for years and are VERY leery of the BIG DAWG.

It's almost ridiculously wonderful!!!

wlayton, in another thread I had mentioned something to the effect that these young fellows should not mess around with signing dates, not play games.

I think maybe I was not looking at the whole picture. There is so much competition out there for these young guys, and when you think about their age and the recruiters that are banging on them, using every ploy conceivable, would not want to be in that position. (Actually I would, too dang old) . . .

Here I go again, Coach Richt and the team of coaches that he has surrounded himself and UGA with, speaks volumes. It really cannot be understated or under estimated what this means to all of us. I had searched around and found some comments by one of the three recent commitments to UGA that I wanted to post here, not sure that I can. Anyway, to all of the young folks that are on the team, and those coming in, thanks and enjoy the ride, which I suspect is going to be a long one. Go Dawgs!

You are correct Sir......what a ride we ALL are going to have for many years to come......Can you imagine how happy (and relieved) Matthew Stafford is with the supporting cast around him at WR (plus TE), RB and OL for his next 2 years?!!? The table is SO perfectly set for him to lead UGA to the NC.

Non-southern teams I'd most like to play in their house, in order with greatest preference being first, least prefered listed last:

1.) Penn State - I'd like to see us get a little revenge on Joe Pa for the 1983 Sugar Bowl before he retires. Georgia was #1 and Penn State was #2 going into that game, and they won the national championship off of us.

2.) Southern Cal - Self explanatory

3.) Michigan - We beat them in the big house way back when, and we can still beat them there today.

4.) Any of the big 3 Big 12 powers: Oklahoma, Nebraska, or Texas. Really doesn't matter.

5.) Miami - It looks southern on a map but it definitely ain't. The students are all a bunch of rich, spoiled transplanted Yankees who only fly over the south to get to school from their home in Maryland or New Jersey, the population down there is Cuban, the women are fake and have had more plastic surgery than Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor put together, and the team's locker room could be mistaken for a federal prison. Let's go down to the Orange Bowl and show those thugs that there is a difference between the geographic south and the cultural south.

6.) Oregon - I need an excuse to get out there to go whitewater kayaking and do some nature photography.

7.) Hawaii - Surf's up. Let's go do it again in their own backyard and give the boys a mini-vacation while we're at it. Let's go rub it in the face of all those I-live-on-a-rock-thousands-of-miles-from-civilization-and-if-Hawaii-didn't-play-in-the-mainland-occassionally-I'd-have-no-clue-what-was-going-on-which-is-why-I-think-if-we-had-had-the-Dawgs-at-home-instead-of-in-their-backyard-in-the-Big-Easy-we'd-have-won Hawaii fans one more time just for shits 'n giggles

8.) West Virginia - Avenge the '02 Sugar Bowl. Not that important because I think we'll be seeing each other in a BCS bowl game sometime soon. They have emerged as the class of the Big East and I don't think they're going anywhere.

9.) Boston College - Avenge Richt's first postseason loss.

10.) Pittsburgh - Remember when Tony Dorsett ran all over us? Well, we need to go run all over them.
