Georgia's 25 Recruits

Thanks for the breakdown of the 08' recruiting class Buc!
I think A.J. Green is the one player most Dawg fans (myself included) are expecting the biggest impact from but don't forget about Israel Troupe either at the WR position. Like sadlerdawg, I'm very anxious to see Caleb King tote the rock. However, the most important player on this list will probably be the kicker Blair Walsh since he's virtually a lock to start from opening day on.
One other player I'm expecting big plays from in 08' is Akeem Hebron from the 07' class. Even though only a sophomore (is this correct?), I'm expecting him to quickly become one of the leaders on our D after going through the rigors of GA Military College this past season.
Also, several of you FL residents on this forum have got me excited about Carlton Thomas. He strikes me as the big play threat out of the backfield that we've been missing ever since Tyson Browning left Athens. Do you guys remember 80+ yard screen play that Tyson B. took to the house in the 4th qtr. @ LSU back in 03?
Since we are in need of a center to replace Velasco, I expect Ben Jones will get to compete for the starting spot. I read somewhere that Jones has a nasty streak (something about getting a personal foul penalty this past season for simply continuing to dominate/pancake an opponent in the 4th qtr. even when the game was clearly in hand) which is exactly what you need in the trenches of the SEC. I also think Cordy Glenn & AJ Harmon get a shot to fill the OT void left by Chester Adams.
Finally, we need a DE to replace Marcus Howard so I guess, Washington, Jackson, & Longo will all have an opportunity but we already have Wynn, Lomax, & Battle plus redshirters Demarcus Dobbs & Michael Lemon coming back. At DT, DeAngelo Tyson & perhaps AJ Harmon will get a shot to compete but again we're loaded at the DT position with Owens, Atkins, Weston, & Irvin all returning plus redshirters Brandon Wood, Ricardo Crawford, & David White. GOOD GOSH, opposing QB's had better beware, the Dawgs should have one of the fiercest pass rushes in the nation next season. CWM can just keep rotating in fresh D linemen down after down until the opposing O linemen can't even identify the jersey number on the streak of red & black as it runs right through em'.
All speculation aside, the only thing I'm totally sure of is that THE DAWGS ARE GONNA BE GREAT IN 08!

I'm with you, I can't wait to see Ben Jones. You've made an excellent point about the kids in the trenches, we'll win some games with those beasts. I am anxious to see Stafford play with the confidence he had at the end of last season and a crop of good receivers. Moreno and King, two stallions in the stable, it goes on and on and on, not only '08 but '09 and...........Go Dawgs!
We will have a big target on our backs, bring it on.

GooseDawg78, really excellent post. You have me all fired up again today. Finally came down from the high post that I was sitting on yesterday after reading the above information, here I go again.

I have mentioned it a couple of times, but with the DL* that we could/should have, it is going to be a joy watching the DB's and Safeties in a lot of cover two. Looking at the speed of our linebacking crew, this could really get ugly for opposing QB's.

DL* = Maybe I should say DEFENSIVE LINES. . . .

Parade All-Americans, wow . . . .
Statesboro's DeAngelo Tyson and Jefferson County's A.J. Harmon are Parade football All-Americans.

So is A.J. Green, the Summerville, S.C., receiver committed to Georgia.

Hebron is going to reek havoc at LB this upcoming season. Green, immediate impact and agree with Goose, don't forget about Troupe....good WR.

I'm not going to repeat what has already been said but MAN, we are ridiculously LOADED. We will be FRESHER at the end of games than at the beginnings of them with the #'s we have.

Think about this.....as good as these recruits and returning players are now, think how much better they are going to get from the COMPETITION at practices competing and going against each other vying for starting positions and playing time. The UGA practices alone will be better than 75% of all the other college games this coming year. Would pay just to see the practices!!

wlayton, that last paragraph is dead on. Totally agree with your last statement in the last paragraph. :woohoo:
