pro football good or bad?? was created by JawjaBullDawgs
The pros are ok to watch...but for somereason i get the feeling that they dont play for themselves but for the money....college players play for pride, school prestige (not sure if its the right spelling) and national championships, and of course many are playing for that high draft pick... so...do you think that the pros only play for money like i do or for the same reasons that college players do??

I think the college game is far superior to the pro game. In fact, college sports are superior to pro sports in general. I love the NCAA basketball tournament when the kids sit on the court and cry after losing, realizing they just played their last game.

Pro sports can't match that.

GATA! Woof!

I agree. Granted college kids (some) want to go pro and make those millions. Most do not though. Due to them not being so called good enough, or like most want more out of life. I just see the heart and fire in pro sports. Your looking at a bunch of rich folk playing a game and complaining about how \"little\" they make. Maybe they should introduce a rule, they have to do my job for my pay for one year. Maybe then they will see how blessed they are.

There is alot of dedication and hard work that goes into being a successful pro athlete however the extremely high pay erodes away at the true passion for the game and makes it more of a business.

Perhaps if pro athletes were paid according to their own performance and incented on achieving goals(individual and team) each season, game and practice as well as paid for number of practices participated in and effort in practice there would be more drive and passion in all they do. Too many of these so called great athletes are not pushed to practice hard or even at all and get paid for each game whether they play well or at all.

With the caliber of ahtletes out there today we would see some amazing feats and games if they were paid according to how they performed.

i.e.I'm sorry Mr. Owens out of the 65 plays on offense you dogged it on three plays, dropped two passes you should have caught, missed two blocks and ran one incorrect route. You also missed two practices this week when you should have been out there with your team. Your pay this week is $250,000 instead of the $410,000 you would normally make.

Try that method and we would see the same passion and pride we currently see in the college ranks.

I'm basically with you averagedawg. I'll watch the playoffs because it means something and the players probably WILL put out 110% in those games.

They could do away with professional basketball and I wouldn't miss it AT ALL and really don't watch pro baseball either, except MAYBE the playoffs( a little). Tired of all the overpaid primadonnas. The $ they make is beyond ridiculous and like flyindawg said, let them REALLY work for a living and see how they handle it....Yep, stick with the college sports....it's the best.(do like pro golf and tennis, i.e. individual sports in the pro's)
