Yes he is and I wish him nothing but the best in his ministry in New Orleans.

It's nice to see the respect for Danny on this site.
Thanks for that.
He is of course well loved by Gator fans and recently was voted the most favorite Gator of all time through an on-line poll.
I have kept up with his status well because he is from my home town in the panhandle. Still active there as his parents are still there.
Yes, he is now a minister. He joined with a reverend in New Orleans in the late 90's to help get off the ground a live-in school to help the kids of the most poor comunity in the city. After Hurrican Katrina demolished the school and dispersed the students (and he and his family), he was given a tremendous gift by the University of Florida. UF owned a large piece of land on Choctawhatchee Bay in Niceville, FL (my hometown) and they gave the land and buildings to Danny’s ministry/school so that they could keep it going. He mounted a great effort to find all of the students who were now dispersed all over the Southeast and invite them to move to Florida to continue school. Danny is now the Executive Director of Desire Street Ministries and does great work there. He has a lot of support from the university in terms of exposure and fund raising (they owe it to their favorite son). I also noticed that after Tebow won the Heisman, Wuerfell did a couple of appearances with him. No doubt to gain some additional exposure for his ministry.
This is a link to the ministry www.desirestreet.org/new/danny.php
I post it here not to plug or solicit but only so that you may see what he is up to if you’re interested.
Thanks.

UF did not own the property. It was a summer camp that was leased to Danny Wuerffel's ministry for one year. The university simply paid the bill.
Sorry about that.

Wuerffel was a deadbeat charlatan who preyed on the hearts and minds of little boys and girls.
Just kidding. He was a class act and I always respected how he played. That FSU game where he kept taking late hits and getting up showed his class. He never complained and said it was part of the game.
I now have to go shower after saying nice things about a gator.
YUCK!
