UGA Be Ready

UGA Be Ready was created by Buc
Saturday I had the chance to watch UH play Boise State, re-run of course. I must say the Warriors left me with a feeling of concern. They have this passing attack business down perfectly, and noted also that the offensive line was very aggressive in their blocking schemes.

I also understand that they have not played the type of competition that we have in the SEC, both East and West. However, Boise State is not chopped liver, just ask Oklahoma.

Sure hope that we are ready to play a Pro-Style offense with several good receivers and many pass patterns that we have not encountered this year. June Jones in college, pros, back in college coaching, believes in tossing the pigskin. Would not want him coaching in a running type offense, but he clearly understands putting the football in the air. He has become a master at matching his personnel to the defense they are facing.

I was around before Coach Dooley came on board, but soon picked up some of his habits . . . . \"Just don't know how we are going to be able to stay on the field with this team unless we play error free football.\" Sound at all like something VD would say?

Our defense has played a lot of Cover 2, and variations thereof this year. It took some doing but we got better as the year went on, as would be expected. My thoughts go back to the Tennessee game when we were not very good in the \"2\". Tennessee does not hold a candle to UH when it comes to a passing game. Not even close.

One persons thoughts . . . . the pressure from the defensive line has to be there the whole game. Linebackers are going to be critical against UH, as they throw a lot of dink and dunk, short yardage, but will air it out in a heart beat. Defensive backs better be ready for an aerial attack that they have not seen in high school or college.

Through all of this, I feel that we can use our outstanding running game to take away a lot of the hocus pocus that UH will surely want to bring. If we can get in the same frame of mind that we had when we played Boise State, this will be an exciting game that should have a very good outcome for our Dawgs.

This is about 30 or so minutes later, just finished reading an article in the AJC, similar to this, wanted all to know that this was not a copycat article.

I'm concerned too Buc. As expected w/a team that very few folks in the nation (especially in the South) have seen play, IMO, Hawaii is being taken way too lightly. Granted, the only Hawaii game I saw this year was the 2nd half against Washington (a game they didn't play great) but I saw enough to know that they are a well coached & highly skilled team. Now, I know CMR will not overlook this Hawaii team, but I'm very concerned that no matter what they say, our players are gonna walk into the Superdome expecting to just beat em' cause we're from the SEC & they're from the WAC, that kind of attitude reeks of an upset!

It's been said before but I'll say it again, Hawaii plays in a weak conference yes, but that does not make them a weak team. Look at their schedule from last year, it was much more impressive. I'm not ready to give my official prediction yet but I must say I disagree w/a bunch of Dawg fans I know that expect UGA to beat Hawaii by more than 3 touchdowns. I fully anticipate a close game but regardless of the score, it's d*%# sure gonna be a battle. Hawaii has nothing to lose & everything to gain. If you don't think Hawaii is gonna be all jacked-up to show the nation how good they are & how they got snubbed by the BCS you're kidding yourself. I hope the DAWGS and the Dawg Fans pack a suitcase full of PASSION cause these Warriors ain't coming over 4000 miles just to walk out on the field and hand our Dawgs a W!

Defense is the key, disguise our blitzes, mix up coverages, etc. We cannot be too predictable. Run Knowhon 30 times, hammer their defense, open up the long pass for Stafford. I don't think we take them too lightly. We Must score in the red zone. I think we take care of business. Go Dawgs!

We will need Atkins and Weston to penetrate up the middle like they did against Troy. They took Troy's center 6 yards deep into the pocket and disrupted everything. The front 4 are going to have to do the job. If we have to count on the blitz the whole game then we are in trouble.

Am actually not concerned about our guys being ready to play. They are mad and believe me, they don't want to lose to a WAC team like OU did last year. They'll be pumped, I'm at least confident of that. Also, the don't want Brennan to make them look bad either.

wlayton,averagedawg,GooseDawg78, think that we are all on the same track. I really want this game badly, as with any UGA game. The difference is . . . . . finishing the season on a positive note is really going to influence the polls next year . . . . but my main reason is for us to continue our recruiting excellence. There will be a lot of \"potential\" Dawgs watching the outcome of this one.

You are right and if we can come out like we did against UF, AU etc and drill them, not only will we be in the top 5 (easily) but recruiting will be \"out the roof\".
