Since our mythological national champion is selected by committee, I propose that we add the words \"None of The Above\" to the ballot. Should the season come to a close and none of the teams involved look like what a team who should represent this nation at the highest level of college football ought to look like, a voter might then render his vote of no confidence instead of choosing amongst the best of 5 or 6 mediocre teams all clamoring to be the committees pet favorite.
Should \"None of the above\" finish 1st in the BCS, college football would simply not recognize a national champion that year, and the bowl games would be played as usual for pride, program exposure, bragging rights, and bickering among friends and family.
