My Humble Opinion

First and formost I want to say heck yea to the freshmen that made the all american freshmen team from UGA! See Rivals, The state of Georgia should be very proud of her native sons.

Now, this BCS thing. Be careful what you wish for. We are still a very young and often immature team. Not a bad thing so don't get the dander up. I said earlier this year that we would be good and that if we won the first 3 we would win the SEC, well we didn't and didn't. But we are good. Are we as good as some other teams...sometimes. If I remember correctly, I said that we would put up lots of points and that other teams would have to play catch up. With maturity come consistancy. As evidence by GT's ability to take away the Moreno running game. We went to other weapons and found another way to win. As this OL (they are the key) gets better the running game only gets better, and won't be taken away so easily. Dang they've done a great job and will get to NC caliber next year and the next. I also see the need for our receivers to step it up another notch, I believe we can do that next year building on what we did this year. Do we want to say we're NC caliber this year.....I hesitate to say yes because we played poorly in 2 games that we should have controlled easily whose talent was less than ours. The defense made great strides too, but they have to improve. We could sure use some shutdown corners. (wish we had a DE like Pollack coupled with a tackle like Dorsey from LSU)

Let the BCS run its course and we'll play where ever.

I view this group of kids as the foundation for one heck of a run for the next couple of years, it came together this year after some reality checks and the group has definite NC potential. I hope we don't get picked #1 next year cause that creates pressure problems for the kids to perform, it only counts at the end of the year. I firmly believe we will have another NC at UGA over the next 2 years. Lets let the team grow up and play together, then we can enjoy it a heck of a lot more. 1980 we started out ranked 17th,.... after beating a good ND team we came home with lots of Sugar and an undefeated NC. When we win the NC I want the entire nation to know, just like the 1980 team, the DAWGS ARE the best in the land! As always GO DAWGS!

A very sanguine commentary.

Oledawg, very well said. I agree w/ all except that we will win a MNC within the next two years. I agree that we will be good enough to do so, but so many things have to fall into place that I think all one can be sure of, is to say that we should be in position to win it.

To me, that is what we as fans should ask for. We want to be \"in the hunt every year or virtually every year.\" Just demanding that is a lot. Florida I think is a good example. They are still the (mythical) national champions. But they are not \"in the hunt\" this year; they have no chance to repeat. We actually are \"in the hunt.\" It is not likely that we will even get into the BCS Title game, but it could happen to UGA even this year. That is much more than any of us realistically envisioned when the year started. Consequently, we, as Georgia fans, are very happy and satisfied w/ our team this year. And we will be even if we lose our bowl game and wind up 10-3 instead of 11-2.

I don't get the \"be careful what you wish for\" part. Georgia may be young, but should Missouri and West Virginia both fall come Saturday, I will certainly hope that we do go to the national championship game. Nebraska and Oklahoma both went without winning their conference titles, so can we. Whether or not a team that fails to win their conference should be allowed to play for the national championship is irrelevant, as you cannot fault the Dawgs for taking advantage of a broken system. If such a miracle happening to us is what finally convinces the powers that be to initiate some sort of playoff to replace the mythical national championship, then all the better.

Personally, I hope we win 3 in a row. Imagine that.

I agree with Oledawg. I don't want a NC mired in controversy. I want the Dawgs to win one outright and not by sneaking in through the back door on a technicality.

I just want the Rose Bowl. Everything else can go to hell.
