I think it would be hillarious...

...if Steve Spurrier took the Georgia Tech job when they fire Chan Gailey.

When you think about it, it is a very attractive position for him.

A.) He doesn't have to play against his beloved Gators anymore and won't have to prep a team to beat them on a regular basis.

B.) He gets to coach one of Georgia' most hated rivals once more.

C.) He gets to have a rivalry with Florida State again.

D.) He gets to be in a rivalry with Miami.

Spurrier would feel right at home at Tech as far as where his allegiances are and who he loves to beat on a regular basis. He'd still get to coach against all of Florida's major rivals except for Tennessee. He'd be coming to a program that has more tradition than South Carolina where he might actually be able to build a winning program.

The thing is, I just don't see Georgia Tech being willing to pony up the cash to get Spurrier.

I don't think he would ever even consider GT. Too much academic restriction at Tech for him, and he would probably loathe living anywhere in GA.

Besides, there's probably no one in the state that would sell him a house...

I see the money and academic restrictions as the major obstacle. That crap might fly at SC but GT, I hate to admit is a relatively prestigious engineering school.

That is hilarious, DawgSpeare! When I read the first post I, too, thought about the house hunt and how horribly it would go for Satan! (My mind immediately refers to the famous Charlie Daniels song, \"The Devil Went Down to GA\"!) Funny, how we all think alike on the forum when it comes to him!
