Georgia's overtime victory in Tuscaloosa suprisingly was the most exciting SEC game so far in this early season. Even though it was only their fourth game, it was a must win for Georgia to keep any hope of competing for the SEC championship alive.
Georgia can take alot of positive things from this game. Another big win for quaterback Matthew Stafford. Georgia now has confidence that he can step up and make the big play when the game is on the line. There is also plenty of excitement surrounding emerging talent in the backfield from Knowshon Moreno. The guy is athletic, slippery and looks to put a hit on defenders. Thomas Brown is still the starting running back, but Moreno is a deadly addition to the Bulldogs backfield. Georgia should continue to use them as a double threat and always have fresh legs running at the defense.
The biggest story however is coach Mark Richt and his amazing road record of 23-3 since becoming the Bulldogs coach in 2001. That includes a 9-2 record against ranked opponents. Georgia hadn't even gotten a win in Tuscaloosa before Richt's arrival. With this dominant away record Georgia fans can be the most confident road fans in the nation. Neyland Stadium and the Swamp are looming but I would bet my money on Georgia on the road.
Very well said ugapride. But...my feeling is that we will need to approach this little meeting in Knoxville like starved, crazed dawgs who have never tasted victory, never had a decent, full meal. Itching to be unleashed, we will have to claw, scratch and bite our way through a sea of 100,000 orange aliens.
Yeah, the thought of 100,000 teeth being exposed by the collective jaw dropping that happens when the Dawgs put the smack down in Knoxville is intoxicating...
