Good Day,

Thoughts and prayers for those who felt the effects of tropical storm Alberto…. Massive amounts of rain and flash flooding…. Athens is still soggy with afternoon thunderstorms….

Good thread Buc…New play Book…. That covers the many changes for our football program… As it been stated correctly… we have the right HC in place… and he has surrounded himself with quality people who are also very capable coaches….

It seems like every day the heads come up with the soup of the day..

Or… which team is going to upset the Dawgs chances of repeating as both division and conference champions…… then turn around and make statements that we are favorites in each of our games this season… Huh…..????? once again let the games play out one at a time..

I have a feeling we will hear and see the starting who will be the QB,,, chatter surface before fall camp starts…. It never went away imho..

Knowing what we learned about Jake last season I believe for the good of the team he wants Justin to be up to speed and ready…. Just in case… again believe that Justin will get meaningful game reps… have no clue as to how that looks…. Ruling out nothing…. HC will oversee how it shakes out….

If you saw any of the SEC spring meetings we see just how relaxed CKS is… very comfortable in his skin…. Moving the process forward…

Kirby is fully aware….. it’s about the quality of the product you put on the field ….. IMHO… HC has improved the players…. But just as importantly….. fans have improved also…..

Truly an improvement not having Bill King writing about the sad state of the bathrooms at Sanford….

Belmont Stakes next Saturday…. Braves still hanging around….playing better ball than expected…. Yes season is early…

Pause and give thanks…..

Growl….. looking to play on the grill Saturday night if we catch a break in the weather….

Have a great weekend and a safe week….

As always “ Go Dawgs”

Read where some are saying step lightly, don't go overboard. Like being able to bark louder, talent "again" resides in Athens and feel good about those that will coach this group of young men. Really like the feel I am getting about Special Teams. Close out the 2019 recruiting class with some players I seem we are after and UGA will be hard to remove from CFB playoff contention. Coach'em up.

Lifted from Athlon.

3. Georgia

College Football Top 25 Rankings: Georgia. Kirby Smart's Bulldogs fell just short of a national championship last season, but it won't be the last time this program reaches the CFB Playoff. Georgia is primed for another run at the top four in 2018, as Smart's team is likely to be favored in all 12 of its regular season contests. The defense was the strength of last year's team, holding opponents to 16.4 points a game. This unit has a few holes to fill, namely at linebacker following the departure of Roquan Smith to the NFL. Thanks to elite recruiting classes, the cupboard is stocked with promising talent at every level. Jonathan Ledbetter and Tyler Clark form an effective duo in the trenches, while Natrez Patrick is slated to return after being away from the team for the final two contests last year. Providing a pass rush off the edge will be D'Andre Walker and Walter Grant, with freshmen Adam Anderson, Robert Beal and Brenton Cox also poised to push for snaps. Senior cornerback Deandre Baker and safety J.R. Reed will contend for All-America honors. Despite some personnel turnover on defense, this unit returns enough of a foundation to prevent too much of a drop-off in 2018. Until the defense jells, Smart can ask more of his offense. Jake Fromm returns under center after a promising freshman campaign. Fromm threw for 24 touchdowns to just seven picks but could be pushed by five-star freshman Justin Fields. Terry Godwin should be the go-to target, while Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman are primed for bigger roles in 2018. As usual, Georgia is deep at running back. D'Andre Swift is slated to take over the starting role, with freshmen James Cook and Zamir White, along with junior Elijah Holyfield, supplying depth. With four returning starters and some promising freshmen, the line ranks among the best in the nation. Barring an upset or a loss to Auburn in November, Georgia has a favorable path to 12-0 in the regular season – setting up a showdown with Alabama for the SEC title.

Devonte Wyatt might end up being the "man" before 2018 Season is over.

My train of thought at this point seems to keep returning to our offense. Specifically having two coaches that appear to have a lot of say so about the on field and off field leadership.

Jim Chaney, Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach and James Coley, Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks.

Coach Smart said that Chaney would be calling the plays on Saturdays with some feed back from Coley. Not sure how this will play out, have some thoughts, just not sure.

Had Coley taken the job offered by Jimbo Fisher at TAM, little doubt in my mind that the monetary rewards would have been sizeable. Alumni at TAM have zero problems when it comes to reaching into their deep pockets.

A bit hard for me to believe that the current setup between the two coaches will remain the same for any length of time. Believe that there is much more to the setup as it exists now, will have to be played out in real time. I read the posts on this and other boards after a game has been played, often there is disagreement as to what plays should have been called at a particular time in the game. Why would or would that differ between two offensive coaches? Just a thought.

This will be Chaney's last year as a coach at UGA. Coley will have full control of the offense next year

Coach James Coley is incredibly valuable to UGA not only from a coaching aspect, recruiting the Sunshine State is in his very capable hands. A solid reason for Kirby to go to bat for Coley to remain in Athens. The norm for many schools is the quarterback coach usually calls the plays. Tremendous amount of talent on the offensive side of the ball as indicated by some that are predicting UGA to end 2018 with a clean slate.
