From Athens- Friday Thoughts

Good Morning All.

Bang…. Spring blew up this week…. Start of the green slime…aka pine pollen….. many blooms bursting out to the joy of everyone with allergies.

Southerdawg …..enjoyed your sharing on what is being said outside of Athens….. not any different than what I hear everyday…..

As I posted before…folks who would hardly make any conversation
about our football program have a renewed interest… this is expressed in open opinions on players and coaches….. the most repeated theme is how our HC is focused on details….. coach is locked in…. sees all misses nothing….

Article in the local fish wrapper Wednesday how 40 members of the media were loaded on buses for a 13 minute ride to the new temporary practice facility… there are many colleges who would love to have this facility….. million plus to move from BM to Milledge Ave near the softball complex….. new lights and fencing….. coaching towers and temporary restrooms….

Coach gave them 15 minutes to watch from a distance…nothing up close…. However , NC was taking handoffs from BR and light running with some cutting …. And dear Pouty has boldly made the statement NC will be ready game one….. CKS did say NC is ahead of schedule …not surprising ….. NC is no slacker….

Media was treated to free pizza before the bus trip….

It has been announced that “G” game will include a Dawg walk for the first time… AD is working to make this as real a home game atmosphere as possible….. discussing pregame on field entertainment ….. has taken on the tag 93Kgame…..

Media did get this year’s players theme …..ATD…..Attack the Day…..

Every business and sports team has a level of PR work as part of their marketing plan…

With our football team under CKS it is my feeling that he has set the tone for our PR to be blue collar…..with little hype as possible and heavy with truth and excuse free information.... he has taken my saying about how to change the conversation to a higher level….. we will not see our HC ducking intelligent questions……

We host our very first Freshman 50 weekend..... There will be the top 50 in state HS freshman on campus to start their UGA recruiting journey….

Coach is reaching out early to connect with the best players in Georgia..

A very good thing….

Seeing some of the same methods used by Smart that were used by both Erk and Butts. Butts and the Bear had some history.

Jeremy Pruitt brought the same "attention to detail" to Athens that is going to continue under Smart.

Think some of the Pruitt habits rubbed off on Richt. Totally different coaching habits being exhibited in Miami than were exhibited for 15 years in Athens.

There is a reason that Alabama football has been successful.

Not only do Georgia fans owe Coach Pruitt a big Thank You, so does Richt.
Whether he knows it or not.
