Pruitt's Presence Being Felt

Something that has continued down the Florida way is the Pruitt story.

Have to admit, some of those that I know down this way say the Pruitt hiring was the single best move that UGA could have made. Still there are those in the FSU family that are very disappointed that Jeremy Pruitt left their program. Jeremy Pruitt had become a “hero” in Tallahassee.

Some of the stories being circulated are Pruitt’s methods of teaching. That in my opinion is a very big word. Instances where some caught on quicker than others. Pruitt stayed with the young man that required more help, always.

Replacement was not and is not in his vocabulary. He believes that those that wear the uniform are there for a reason. Takes a very disciplined person to not move on. Believe we have witnessed that in the UGA program recently. That single action by Pruitt, first endeared him to the players and coaches, found its way to the fans. Stories that lift a program. Jeremy Pruitt did not do that by himself, Jimbo Fisher and Pruitt built a bond between themselves and the players that led to that National Championship.

I am convinced that is the way that Pruitt wants to work things in Athens. Already he has surrounded himself with coaches that “he” wants. Believe that to be a giant first step. Recent happenings show that he is not about giving away playing time that is not warranted by player actions.

There is a lot on Pruitt’s shoulders and he understands and wants it to be that way. If not, he still had a group of defensive players in Tallahassee that had been coached up by himself and his assistants. Pruitt sees something in Athens that many of us have wanted to see for a long time. Just have to breath life back into the program.

Like very much what I see. Hard not to like Pruitt, he is actually a proven commodity. He will soon become a valued coach that wants more. That is a good thing. Had he been just another content coach/teacher, he would have remained in Tallahassee. FSU appears to be in a solid position for some time to come. Me thinks that raiding FSU, coming away with Pruitt is the first real step in UGA football toward getting the same results that many other universities have had for a long time. Defense must be played in the SEC. ACC FSU got the message under Jimbo Fisher and . . . . Took Fisher more than a couple of years to reach the top, but don’t anyone doubt that FSU playing solid defense did not contribute greatly to the 2013 record of achievement.

Just the way I see it.

Edit: Reading the article below, what I gather is that Will Friend has the same philosophy that Pruitt has for the defense. Pruitt's hiring, best friends with Will Friend, there should be some very positive vibes for young men on both sides of the ball.

The road to success usually begins in the SEC.
James Franklin a prime example.

I believe Jeremy Pruitt saw a goldmine in Georgia and made a smart decision to further his career.
Untapped resources, unlimited, but yet unfilled, potential.

averagedawg, believe that one of the early recuits bears out your post. Terry Godwin from Hogansville, Georgia. Pruitt might be the plug that we have needed to stop the drainage on Georgia high school talent.

Never under estimate a country boy. :)

Reading this article makes me think that many here are on the right path where Pruitt is concerned.

Reading is a large percentage of my days. From what I have read for more than a couple of years, most or many of the comments refer to Nick Saban as Nick Satan. Find most of the commentors that do that are less than understanding on how to work through the alphabet.

Saban had two losses on the 2013-14 team. When I look at the teams Alabama has played, much needs to be said about some that he has won against. Saban lives on playing and beating every team that Alabama plays. Money is one thing, but Nick Saban's main thoughts are winning football games, the pot of gold is there and will always be there.

One of the things that will help wrestle the SEC from placing two teams in the final four will be the strength of the Southeastern Conference as a whole, that is East and West. No doubt in my mind that there should be at least two teams from the SEC in the final four. Think it was a mistake to start the new playoff season with four teams. There will be nothing but shouting from all corners. Eight teams would change much of the grumbling.

Pruitt's presence will be felt. As said, look at who he has studied under. It started prior to Nick Saban. Jeremy knew long before Nick Saban that he wanted to coach football. That is his life goal. Not only does he understand football, he teaches football. What better formula for success than saying you worked under Nick Saban? Carried that knowledge along with everything pertaining to football coaching and playing, that which he learned in his short coaching life to FSU and now UGA.

Buc has always been a sucker for defensive football. Thought we had that with the hiring of that other dude. I now feel that we have a defensive coach that will make those like myself feel the same way I did about Erk. In my book, that is a tall order.

Going to give up talking about the down side of the defense. Have said that I did not blame the players for all that went backwards in the last couple of seasons. There were a couple that used the "system" to further their goals. They are gone, now see a light at the end of the defensive tunnel. Enjoy Pruitt, he is at best a short timer.
