From Athens- Bone Chill'n Cold

Good Morning All,

Well like myself and others we had ideas that Georgia football would fall into being dull and a repeat of 2013 going forward.

Many of us self included had accepted that any hope of a meaningful change in our program was not going to happen anytime soon

Surprise! We are looking at a completely new coaching staff on defense

Plus adding a replacement in the SC department

This amounts to more of a change than we had first thought possible

Now add to this CMR being able to attract CJP away from FSU to come and restore order to our defense

Surely FSU would have come up with a raise for him to stay, right?

It then becomes a matter of opportunity and not money

CJP then tells the world he has had this dream of working with CMR for over 10 years

So taking him at his word he wanted to coach at Georgia for CMR

This begs the question what does he see or know that we are missing?

He must think that we have the talent to compete for a NC which we also believe to be true

Did he feel he was looking at Bama type talent just not being coached?

Based on what I have heard and not heard from CJP he looks and sounds like the type coach we have needed for some years now

It is also interesting what people in the business have said about him and his coaching

I am also impressed with his first hire as an assistant

People who hire people with a passion for what they do impress me

I believe that CMR will give CJP a wide berth and unlike Towel Toddy it is very unlikely CJP will be giving any choke signs while on the sidelines

He could have named CCW or CKO and not much would have been said as we were happy with the departure of TG

A small measure of credit goes to CMR if not for anything else other than having the good sense to listen to CWF

It would also seem the draw to come to Athens for CJP extended beyond his friendship with CWF

Watching CJP and his staff go to work will help with my post bowl game funk

IMO it will do the same for our team

Players of the “O” will look forward as we will at the possibility of having a “D” that does not give up so many points

Every game need not be a shoot out and high scoring drama

Players on defense can start looking to feeling better about helping rather than hurting our efforts

I am still waiting to see it all come together on the field however, I have a better feeling about it being possible than I did with TG leading our WTF arm waving defense

Toddy and his new team open at home against Miami on Monday 9-1-14

Not starting with a cupcake good chance for him to show us up or get shown up

I understand we would of preferred a Mack Brown move but while that didn’t happen my interest is perked on what we can do if CMR aka The Godfather stays away and does not meddle

I think this is a real possibility

On to NSD and the surprises that lurk every year

Pause and give thanks

YD, I prefer someone other than CMR. That said, (and I don;t care why he did it) it took a good coach to hire JP. Part of being a good coach is hiring the right people under you. We can talk about why, why, why, why he did it; but none of us know why unless we could get into his head. Why does Saban do what he does? Only he knowds. Meyer? Only he knows.

Been thinking about the chance of Rocker. Is he another guy just waiting for the next NFL job? Probably. I like the high school back ground of JP and KS. Two more hires to go; do we balance the high school teachers with the old veterans? I don't know.

I could care less if its a ST coach or another LB coach. I may be in the minority but I don't think our ST's suck because we don;t have a ST coach, I think they suck because we don;t put our best players on the field and CMR doesn't stress it enough. From what has been said, ST coaches basically set the time for the practrices and the logistics of getting the practice in.

Put the best players on the field (even if they get hurt) ands find a player who can return punts, and we are good to go.
