Eight days to Tee Time

My Grandson who lives in Spring City,TN called last night and we talked at length about the upcoming season.

I have shared here before he is a solid Dawg fan.

His goal is to be a member of the Red Coat Band come fall 2015

The local UT buzz according to him is the new uniforms that the Vols have this year. His comment uniforms don’t make a good football team

Not much to disagree with there

Seems that I remember that we did that without much success

His take on our injuries is what the players are saying plus very little coach speak.

The only starting player we know for sure at this time who will miss the game is JHC

CMR had some good things to say about last night’s practice Clemson game

Called out several young pups who are looking for PT

JJ moved into the 3rd back as BD has a knee issue to heal.

Just a hidden nugget that I picked up on was KM had no carries BUT…. bought caught two passes one for a TD.

He is picking up where he left off in our bowl game. Love it

Both our backs will catch a slew of passes this year

That slows down the LB pass rush for sure

Buc…. QH did have two carries for two TD’s seven yards total

It looks like the FB is back in our playbook! Goal line FB blast for six!

The wife has requested grilled pork tenderloin so will have opportunity to fine tune the grill before next weekend

yankeedawg1, good morning, slept in this morning . . . . earned the right, problem is trying to sleep, oh well comes with years on Earth.

Obvious to me that Mark Richt has changed many of his ways. Discussing his football team is one of them, especially with the local media. Often I check other sites, watch the "coach speak". Nick Saban controls the press, very obvious. Not a bad thing, some of the silliness that those asking questions befuddles not only Saban, makes me wince. More and more I see Richt taking on that demeanor, glad to see the "new" Richt. Again, my opinion.

Will be leaving shortly for the VA in my area, will be "yacking" with Greg. Really glad to see more of the athletes in that area coming home (Athens) again. Greg played under VD, knows much about South Georgia and especially the schools around Lowndes High and Valdosta. Lots of talent there in the near future. Actually Dyshon Sims transferred from Valdosta to Lowndes. Great get, regardless.

Guess that I am too "entrenched", don't mess with the best looking uniforms in college football. Great site at the beginning of the game watching those uniforms come onto the field, worn proudly by our players.

Clemson game rests squarely on our shoulders. With the talent we have, game called properly, don't see us being under dogs. Would ask this question . . . . Would anyone on this board trade the talent on our team for Clemson's? Silly question Buc, now you sound like many of the media turds that you called out a paragraph or two back. Silly me.

Folks have a great weekend, next Saturday this board will "blow up".

Edit: Enjoyed the read in the ABH concerning Quayvon Hicks. This group is serious. That is the kind of reporting that the AJC does not understand for the most part. My opinion.

Right on target YD1. We have an arsenal of weapons. Not to mention RBs, FB's & TE's, who can catch the ball and make BIG plays.

You mentioned Grandson He is about 60 miles SW of us. Nice to know there are Dawgs all over TN. And UT uniforms. He is right, will not help in MHO. Much too early to start worrying about game in Knox. But I will say, went to their open practice (doing some recon). Played a half. Not that impressed. D looked better. Still not good only because O looked bad. Only score was by 3rd team. QB battle raging. Nuff said. First things first on to Clemson.

yd1, you always start great football threads. Thank you!

Folks, I take NOTHING away from Climpsn. They always seem to get the 5 star recruits in batches of 3 or 4 per season. Boyd is the real deal, no doubt. But as TN Dawg and Buc rightly point out, he has a much bigger load to carry. Good point too, Buc - would you switch offenses with Climpsn if you could? Think about that SERIOUSLY. Defenses? Honestly? We all know the answers to those questions.

Some see this as an even matchup. I don't. Sure, they have the crowd factor. But I'll gladly GIVE you the crowd factor, if you'll gladly give me Todd Gurley, Keith Marshall, Quayvon Hicks, Arthur Lynch (and I'm still a believer that Jay Rome is about to become all that), every receiver in the arsenal, Aaron Murray, and - for the first time in a LONG time - our O-Line.

Our defense is hungry . . . looking forward to watching Kublanow get NASTY on some kid playing defense against us. . .
