Had an opportunity to catch up with a local for coffee this week.
His words that he has heard coming off campus fits what Greg shared with you Buc.
Defense while young has unseen speed and plays more WE ball than ME ball. Our young secondary will have help from the front “7”.
Coverage becomes much better when the QB is avoiding a sack or loss.
The subject of injuries came up and he felt for the way we are hitting on each other in practice and having nothing major is a blessing.
I would venture that a our improved S&C program has much to do with that happening
So far so good-fingers crossed -also picked up on your Taper comment Buc made me think about how important a good corner man is in boxing. Take an advantage were you can find it!
AM tossing three INT’s in our first scrimmage IMO is not a real surprise
That is why it is called practice.
CMR added there were also some good things that took place on both sides of the ball
The less hype we hear from players or coaches the better
New Year-New Team- One Dream
I am on board with this year’s motto that the seniors have chosen
Journey starts in 22 short days
Pause and give thanks
Have a great weekend and a safe week
As always “Go Dawgs”

AM in practice is doing just as you mention above, practicing. He will throw to receivers in tight quarters. At this point in my way of thinking, makes AM, the receiver and . . . . the defensive player better.
Appears to me that we have a solid group of defensive backs. Have some big time hitters. Shaq proving that he is what the hype said about him prior to landing on campus. Shaq is a cover guy. Maybe I am wrong, but really like the diversity of this group . . . . as you mention the "WE" factor.
Only problem that I can find with the S&C program . . . . should have had the same leadership long before. All part of the "replacement plan" that we went through a short time back, not only with the S&C portion of our team, there were other areas that "bit the dust". High "Fives" from where I sit.
yd1, Greg has the kind of information that reaches out, way out when it comes to our coaching staff recruiting in South Georgia. South Georgia still a hot bed for D1 talent. Recent signing of the offensive lineman from Lowndes High School indicates just how right Greg is, speaking of course about Dyshon Sims. Plays "nasty" does not get along well with others that enter his "territory". Future all everything on the offensive line. Getting my wishes fulfilled . . . . get the offensive linemen, football play starts with the offensive center.
Back at you for a great weekend. Several folks coming to visit in our home this weekend. Daughter bringing lobster tails, fresh caught in the Keys. I will supply the steaks . . . . surf and turf . . . . God is good.

One last line . . . . have a delivery from UPS today from Hawkinsville, Georgia. Fresh green peanuts for boiling. Georgia caviar. yum! :woohoo:

DWS, I have been on the Quayvon Hicks wagon since UGA started recruiting him. Chances are he might be the starting fullback. If that is the case, he has really stepped his game up. Merritt Hall is not chopped liver.
T.J. had that serious injury soon after coming on campus. When in high school and being recruited, could have gone to many D1 schools. If TJ is ready, just adds another great piece to the puzzle. Defensive coaches have some hard decisions to make . . . . soon.
Really like what Toby Johnson says in the article below. One part . . . .
“I feel like I’m getting there,” he said. “I’m not where I know I want to be. I think I’m pretty good in base right now. I need to get nickel down and then I’ll be good to go. You can’t play fast when you don’t know the plays. The plays I know, I think I’m doing pretty well. The ‘O’ line has been helping me get better every day and I appreciate that.”
Like the term that yankeedawg1 likes to use . . . . TEAM.
Good thoughts for your Father.

I love to hear that. I've been big on saying that this years D will be better than last year precisely because of the WE more than
ME concept. I don't want to eat those words, and I don't think I will.
No knock on the talent we had last year, but I think they might not have always maintained their assignments as they
tried to make the highlight reel with the big play as they wanted to showcase themselves for the next level.
God Bless and Go Dawgs

Agree Wart - hearing about the WE defense from numerous sources. The no "I" in team adage is needed on campus. Looking forward to seeing that unit perform at a level over most of our expectations.
Not really concerned at this point with AM. He is leader and will be ok. If I am hearing of INT's from AM, must be that DBs are doing a good job. Keep it up boys.
