Appears that Ball's services are wanted at other Universities. Tennessee made a run at Ball, apparently did not happen. This thread starts here, moves along.
Took several years for this coaching staff to mature, not surprising that others want coaches like Ball. I do remember Tennessee trying to get their hands on RG.
From where I sit, there is not a University in the Southeast or elsewhere that would be opposed to having UGA coaches with time in grade becoming a part of their program.
Tennessee needs help, probably speaks well for their head coach. Atlanta and the surrounding area have a lot of high school players that will play SEC football. Tennessee, not unlike Auburn and others, work hard recruiting coaches that have time in the SEC and have made in roads through hard work.
Spend some time on other boards, one thing that keeps popping up is whether or not UGA is willing to get off of the dollars to move the football program up. I have watched Adams manipulate in his time on campus, now he is stepping down. Ever ask yourself why? Adams knows that the proper allegiance has not been paid to the one sports program that carries the entire University. Guess we know which program that is. It will be a banner day when Adams is no longer in his present position. The Hedges will be greener, and our University will have a serious ray of sunshine, both in and out of the board room.
Allow me this. If we keep the money in the UGA Bank, have a head coach that many of the talking heads and media folks say is one of the best in the country . . . . what keeps UGA from moving forward. Forward like Alabama and others.
If Nick Saban came out tomorrow and said, "Alabama I want my contract to be doubled" . . . . who on this board thinks that would not happen? All of us know what part of the program puts money in the till. NCAA is a mess, and Alabama will only get better.
Now, all of us can play the holier than thou game. I read the posts on this board and others that lead me to believe that those that want Georgia to have the same success that Alabama has with Saban would spend the money . . . . however, those voices are not being heard. UGA has money in the bank, we have that money on the backs of the football program and folks that love football and contribute. Ask yourself this question . . . . where have most of the structural changes occured on the Athens Campus? Maybe close to the "Hedges"? What structural changes are being discussed now?
When is the last time any of us have taken a serious look at where these young players are today. None of us want names, but I could produce a long list of young men that played between the Hedges that are yet to finish their book work and no longer play football and their lives are not better.
This is just a mish mash of what I see. Want to compete with Saban/Alabama . . . . takes money.
Lots of things that can be discussed about Georgia Football, even in the off season. Most would prefer to talk about Saturdays in Athens. Each of us walk at our own pace.
Edit: Anyone think that Mike Bobo is going to get an extension and raise this season? Answer my question . . . . yes. Three years back, would have been the loudest voice against a raise and especially extension. Keep Mike Bobo as long as we can, his stock is rising.
