Good Morning All,
Once again it is time to take a time out from football.
“WMDMTM”
What Memorial Day Means to Me!
Google that question and select a few answers at random to read.
It was great to learn that even today 6th graders are writing essays about this very question.
There was one that caught my attention from a man who grew up an army brat in Germany.
Before Memorial Day his class would go to France to place American Flags on the graves of our fallen servicemen.
It was his third year of doing this project when the light came on that these graves were the resting place for those who gave their lives for his freedoms.
I have had the opportunity on several occasions to visit Arlington and to see for myself the rows and rows of white crosses.
Watching in person the changing of the guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier ranks as one of the top five experiences in my life.
Tied with the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. Both are awesome.
Both are worthy of anyone’s “Bucket List”
Buc and others here speak of how special it is to visit a vet facility, I agree it will humble you,
I think about those who have served and have come home wounded or those who have spent so much time away from home and their families.
They also have given so much in freedoms name.
From the time of Valley Forge until now those who have served, or currently serving have gained and kept the freedoms we enjoy and to often take for granted.
“Thank You”, your service and commitment has made it possible for our nation to remain free and the best place on God green earth to live.
Each and every time a meet someone in uniform I make a point of thanking them for their service.
The wife, Georgia and I plan on doing nothing this holiday weekend and think we will only get half of that done.
Enjoy some quality down time.
Pause and give thanks, please make an effort to thank a vet this weekend.
We are blessed.
Have great weekend and a safe week
As always “Go Dawgs”
