Press Release from Ga. Athletics
UGA Army ROTC Graduates Display Georgia Flag In Iraq
Major Chris Carter and Major Russ Black, two UGA Army ROTC graduates currently serving in Iraq, display a Georgia flag signed by former athletic director and head coach Vince Dooley and current head football coach Mark Richt. Carter was involved with another Georgia flag in 2003 when he and Lt. Col. “Flip” deCamp were present at the 2003 Georgia vs. Alabama football game in Sanford Stadium. They presented to the University Athletic Association a Georgia flag which they had raised over one of the presidential palaces in Baghdad during the fall of Saddam Hussein. That flag is currently on display in the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall on the UGA campus.
