From Athens- Game Day Friday #5

Touchdowns, field goals, drop kick or safety. All count just score enough points to win anyway you can!

I will take a “W” period anytime we step on the field, leave the style points to somebody else.

It is nice to hear a different song this week when it comes to CTG and our defense.

Back to hammering CMB.

If we execute we would have had a plus 30 points. This is by no means a “Hall Pass” for CMB. But….He did call some good plays -better use of TE’s –or- was that CMR….. Your guess! It might have been CMR who sat on the lead in the second half also?

I can see some merit on sitting on the ball- your playing away, up by two scores, your OL is thin, your defense is playing lights out let them take control and win the game.

Last word from me this week about CMB. It may be small steps but CMR has put some distant between himself and his OC.

I just don’t mean having CMB in the press box. I can remember him not saying much about CWM during is last year in Athens.

I saw a stat that we are only second to Bama on run defense in the SEC.
Having played two teams that ranked #5 and # 12 – also taking into account that Bama played two cupcakes and we played one. This is good news.

I watched Herrera (Freshman) at LB do an excellent job playing his position against Ole Miss. He has both the size and speed to play at the next level.

Be good to have him all over MSU’s QB (Chris Relf) this week.

We play like we did against USC and no turnovers we win by at least 2 TD’s.

IC will have another plus 100 yd game.

I am going on record that there will be a least two headline recruits that will commit this coming signing class that will want to come play for CTG.

If you’re good CTG will make you better and you will get a shot at playing on Sunday. You have skills you will play as a freshman. CTG does not believe in holding back anything. Only way I know of to build depth.

A word about CWF, he is doing a nice job with the players he has to work with. He has to suffer with the cards he was left to play with. From what I have heard he will get the job done.

Georgia enjoyed her post game reward feast and again thanks her collective bargaining agent-Buc! I also didn’t do to bad with the “Suds & Shrimp”

Her question to me was why change anything this week, early kickoff - just win and celebrate! She is a smart dog and tends not to try and over think everything like her owner.

I plan on toasting the brotherhood while she and I do our nightly walk to the south forty on Saturday.

Winter is coming; our deer herd has already changed into their gray coats.

My daughter is up from South Florida to watch the "early" UGA game. Anywhere she travels she has our granddog with her . . . Savannah is her name. Loves Buc, passes those hidden treats when no one is looking. She seems to like me better than some. Posted a photo of my daughter with the results of her "gator fishing" catch last Friday.

yankeedawg1, folks on this board that read regularly know that I have been on the stump for a real defensive coach for a long time. Not only me, many others. Appears my prayers have been answered. There is no doubt that Grantham has the "stuff" . . . . he wears it on his sleeve. I like that, put it out there, no second guessing where he stands. If the talent comes to our university, no doubt in my mind as to whether Grantham will prepare them for a great college career between the Hedges, and for some, the NFL.

Said earlier this week that I think this is going to be a game that will be for men only. Both sides. Every game we play is a big game, this game seems to have some added interest from the players on the UGA side, remembering last season. Hold onto the ball fellows, one or two mishaps could and probably will hurt the losing side.

Thanks for the updates and get those "special" treats ready for Georgia.

Well, in a couple of hours I'll be heading west to A-town to watch our Dawgs from Sanford. Be meeting up (again) with my man Goose and anyone else who wants to stop by. Luckily, Richt gave me my instructions on cheering, so I'll know when to make noise. I'll pass it on to any of the fans near me who don't read the AJC.

A win is a win is a win.

My goal for every season is to go 12-0.

When we lose our first game, the next goal is to go 11-1. If we lose 2, it's 10-2.

We lost 2 to start off, but 10-2 is still within our reach.

Now just go get #3 in the W column. Think of nothing else. 3 comes well before 10, and #3 under the
letter W is the only number that matters on Saturday. We want to win the SEC and we may very well
have an uphill battle in order to achieve that, but our goal right now is to be the champion of
Sanford stadium on Oct 1st, 2011.

yd, I have always enjoyed your Friday morning post. Only been a member for a short time, but have been reading for a while, and have always enjoyed your post.

I couldn't agree more about the use of the TE's. When CMR called the plays we used the TE's a lot, and it seems that is happening a lot more in the last couple of games. Hopefully that continues, we have great weapons at TE. We could put all three out there and use one as WR. I believe Buc has said that before. I have been impressed with our TE's, not so much with some of our WR's.
