DJ just absolutely was fantastic. I know that all championship seasons are special -- unless you're FSU, playing in the Absolutely Crappy Conference and winning it with 5 losses -- but they're special for different reasons. The most memorable season for me personally is the 2002 season; it was my first year in grad school at Georgia, with all those last-minute and come-from-behind victories, with \"Man Enough\" and the SCarolina game and Pollack's interception and the Greene-to-Johnson against Auburn. 2005 was special to me for a different reason: DJ Shockley. DJ just made every game incredible, and even the loss to Auburn was fantastic -- in my mind, the best regular season game of 2005. Even the Sugar Bowl that year...I mean, after we were down 28-0, did any of you doubt that DJ was going to score every time he got a chance to take the ball downfield? We very nearly won that game 41-38. He was scoring at will in the second half. The way he played in blowouts -- like the Boise State game -- as well as in tight games -- like the Tech game -- made you upset that the defense was on the field! The only poorly-played game of the season was against SCarolina, which can be forgiven because he beat Spurrier in Athens.

As a side note, in 2004 I was in the stands for the ill-fated Tennessee game and was one of the many Dawgs chanting \"D-J! D-J!\" as David Greene began to falter. This was no indictment of Greenie by any means; I just knew that DJ was most on his game against Tennessee. There was no doubt in my mind that he would have found a way to beat the Vols that year. After the Tech game everyone was worried that DJ might not be a good starter; boy did he prove them wrong!

We love you DJ. And now Panthers fans like me have yet another reason to hate Michael Vick -- he's keeping you on the third string!

Great post dapolla. I think everyone in Dawg Nation loves DJ. Phenomenal athlete, leader, person and a grear Bulldog. He only started that one year but will be remembered with the best of them at UGA !!!
