Buc spins a yarn as well as anyone. I now want to play defense and hit people.

Our defense should be vastly improved.
The pieces of our offense are there.
But, As Buc says.....it's up to the OL.

kentdaddy, have no doubt that you mean just that. Last night watched a program on cable that made me reflect a bit on our current change of direction under Coach JT. The program was following a group of men through Recon Marine training. Being a Navy man once upon a time was very much aware of the Seal training. The folks going through the Recon Marine training blew me away.

Reason I refer to the Recon Marines and their training, had me reflecting on Coach JT and the changes he made, and made quickly. If these young men playing college football think that their training is tough, they should be made to sit in a very comfortable chair and watch the entire program start to finish. If someone out there has a connection to Coach T, maybe it could be brought to his attention. Many of these young men going through Recon training are not blessed with the physical talent that many of UGA's athletes are. The difference, and I don't make this statement with prejudice, is the mental pride carried by these Marines.

A lot has been said about the upcoming season. Getting closer so expectations run a bit higher than other times of the year, especially after a 6-7 season. If it turns out that the single biggest reason that our record is better, and we look like a TEAM again is because of a coaching change in the weight room and new diet plan . . . . wow.

averagedawg and I defended Searels on this board on many occasions. If the problems we had last season suddenly turn around under Friend, then it is what it is. Searels goes to one of the highest rated programs in the country. Friend comes back to us from a school that has a football team. Offensive lines get larger, defensive lines get larger. Seems to me the direction that Coach T is taking these young men is the wave of the future. Here is hoping that we show some mental and physical competence in the fourth quarter this season. This kind of football reminds me a great deal of Coach Bear Bryant and his days in Texas. The Bear was tough, crusty on the edges . . . . maybe this is what Coach T is all about.

If we handle Boise St, we will get our "swagger" back and go on to win the SEC East (my prediction based on the 1st game). Having that swagger/confidence is huge with 18-22 year old athletes.........Beat Boise St and you will see the Dawgs at another level the rest of the year.

Wlayton- Buc.... what I said before we handle the first two games and running the table is well within our power. I like us being tested early. CJT will be on the job all season to keep the troops grounded. No big heads will last on this team for sure... Go Dawgs
