Well, congratulations to the only Dawg to play in this year's Superbowl, Tim Jennings of the Colts, on his Superbowl Championship ring. I'm sure he'll prize it second-most among his championships!
That said...man was that a bad game. On both sides of the ball, you have two teams that were absolutely great all season long playing absolutely terrible football. Neither quarterback looked all that great(honestly I thought Joseph Addai should have won the MVP...10 receptions for a running back?), which is okay with me because when they were in college we couldn't beat either one of them.
Maybe now the press will stop talking about Peyton frickin' Manning. Although I will miss the entire press corps absolutely crapping all over Rex Grossman. What a delight to watch him flounder around at the highest level at which it is possible to flounder.
Seriously though, the last two Superbowls have been terrible. Pats-Eagles was only so-so. The last good one we had was Pats-Panthers, and the bad guys won that game! Yeesh.
Now begins the long dry spell between the Superbowl and Opening Day of the baseball season. One month of Superbowl recap followed by one month of MLB speculation, occasionally interrupted by the odd basketball or hockey score. Oh yeah, and March Madness. Luckily for folks like us, the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA baseball season starts this Friday! And, in what is becoming a tradition under David Perno, we have one of the toughest schedules in the nation, opening against defending National Champs Oregon State at Foley Field in Athens. And did I mention that my son's first baseball game was opening day, Georgia vs. Georgia Southern in 2005? GOOOOO DAWGS!!!
