Yeah, I heard that and knew that it was going to be a matter of time until someone would somehow come back to coaching. I am guessing a lot of schools recruited Newton as a tight end. I have a bunch of buddies that are die hard lizard fans. Many of them have stated that if Newton had stayed at UF, he would have been a TE. I think our coaching staff has done a pretty dang good job of evaluating QB talent.
I believe if Meyer really thought Newton was going to be a great player, he would have found a way to get him back. I mean he got Rainey back after he threatened to kill. If he really had wanted Newton back, or thought he would end up being a Heisman trophy winner, I believe he would still be playing for UF.
I will say this. I have a good buddy who has some insight at UF, he told me that Newton did indeed get caught cheating on an exam, and that did have something to do with his dismissal.
