Good Morning All,
It has been said that first impressions are the ones most lasting.
Week 1 - We open against a cupcake UL-Laf. Like a kid having the training wheels taken off their bicycle we saw that AM was going to be fun to watch and grow this season, and CTG was as promised Erk - v2.0. AJ was not missed.
Weeks 2 thru 5 – This stretch of games was like going to the same restaurant each Saturday and waking up sick on Sunday morning with bad case of the green apple quick step. AJ was missed and our record showed how much.
We fired the cook and sanitized the restaurant inside and out. This was done against the “Stay the course” crowd wishes. I could not take another Sunday of using three rolls of Charmin! Losing I understand is part of life however, you don’t have to like it! I damn sure don’t.
Weeks 6 & 7 AJ returns and we crush two sub-par opponents and hang a shutout on Vandy. Looking inside the 43-0 score we see our “D” is showing strides of improvement. Hold them to 3 and outs and get off the field, give the ball to our “O” with good field position. Now we wake up the past two Sunday mornings with an excessive celebration hangover. Damn well worth it!!
Week 8 – Road game to Kentucky who is just off a big win at home over the much hated USC chickens and the loveable SS. Correction laughable SS.
A huge opportunity for the Dawgs and AM. First road win and against a good SEC east team. We need this win for a whole host of reasons. A win here will not only be good for this year but will pay dividends for AM’s future as well as our teams underclassmen.
So here in week 8 there is an opportunity for our Dawgs to make another “First” impression for this season. Stick KY behind the “8” ball and keep them there for the entire game.
All I ask is that we play with passion and be relentless on both sides of the ball. Big Bad Bruce needs to tear the fur off the wild kitten!
I am so looking forward to a Bloody Mary Sunday Brunch to cure my excessive celebration hangover this week.
I offer this toast to all who wear the Red & Black:
May those that love us, love us. For those that don't, may God turn their hearts. If their hearts cannot be turned, may He turn their ankles so we know them by their limping.
Stay safe and have a great weekend! As always “Go Dawgs”
Go Dawgs!
