Where do I get tickets?

Where do I get tickets? was created by littleireland78
I am new to the college football scene, but am an avid Georgia sports fan. My boyfriend lives and breathes UGA football and I want to get him tickets for his birthday in July. Does anyone know when (2007) tickets go on sale and where a good place to get them is? Stubhub has some for sale, but they are 250 a ticket!!

Thanks so much!

littleireland78, don't go to a broker, you will spend a fortune. Try the UGA athletic dept in the Butts-Mehre bldg (probably a waiting list) or start advertising in different papers, look on ebay etc etc. You can find tickets without going through a broker.

Tickets are higher priced through brokers but you pay for good seats and convenience. Many of the tickets listed on our ticket link are from season ticket holders and are excellent seats. Most excellent seats on ticket brokers sell out early in the season.

If you want just any old ticket students sell many tickets in various places like ebay. So do scalpers who simply bought the ticket for resale.

Call the UGA athletic dept to find out when they go on sale.

Like wlayton and Steve, I do not reccomend the broker route. However, success with obtaining season tickets via UGAA IS costly! First and foremost you must contribute annually, per seat, for the right to buy tickets.

The UGAA changed the rules in 2003, eliminated all grandfathered season ticket holders and placed a higher premium on the better seat locations. For me, the seats that I'd had for well over 3 decades increased some 2000%....Much more than I was willing to pony up. I may be mistaken, but I've heard that the average per seat contribution is about $150, or perhaps a little more. It should be noted that the higher the contribution, the better you're chances of getting tickets. Also worth noting, low contributions are more likely to be passed over when offering season tickets, or you end up in the nose bleed sections! Remember, contributions are just that, so whether you get tickets or not, the money you contribute is gone and non-refundable. At one time you could claim 80% of the donation on your taxes, but I believe our beloved moron in DC made some radical changes to this area of the tax code and eliminated the deduction...You'll need to check with an accountant or tax service for up to date info.

After you've contributed, you will receive a packet to request season tickets. You will pay face value for the entire season, up front. Contribution packets are usually mailed out sometime during the season, but it may not be too late to contribute now for the 2007 season. Ticket order packets are mailed, usually in February and I believe due around the first of March. Feasibly, a person could drop no less than $700 on a set of 2 season tickets, 50% of which is contribution, only to be informed later that you were passed over and your ticket purchase refunded.

My advise to you would be Ebay, this site, or if possible, purchase tickets from a known season ticket holder. Be careful about purchasing student tickets, unless you are one. I believe a current ID is required at the gate to use a student ticket.......Hope this helps.

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!
