Do you support Saban's call for agent's to loose license if causing player to loose eligibility

What do you think about R Curran's response to the issue

After the story broke late Wednesday of the NCAA’s inquiry at Georgia, former Bulldogs linebacker Rennie Curran, who gave up his final season of college eligibility to enter this year’s NFL draft, addressed the matter on his Twitter account.

“Can’t believe how hard the ncaa is trying to crack down on college athletes,” Curran tweeted. “How can [you] expect someone not to look to outside sources…”

Continuing on his next tweet, Curran wrote: “… when there are video games being made of you, your jerseys getting sold, your family is struggling [and] you don’t even get a dime except pell [grant].”

I guess Rennie doesn't realize the value of a college education. I mean come on!! He was getting a free ride to THE GREATEST INSTITUTION! I wonder if he knows how much it cost the average person to attend UGA WITHOUT a scholarship?

Curran is an idiot. Video games are not being made of him and his jersey is not being sold. A player for UGA is in the video and selling jerseys. Change then name and it still gets sold.

This sounds like more BS entitled athletes. Universities are not for profit endeavors. Programs like the football team do turn a profit. That profit then enables nicer facilities for the players and it helps support non-revenue generating sports and it helps pay top flight coaches.

People like Curran think the football program lives in isolation. It does not. It is part of the university and if they don't like the opportunities the team has afford to them then let them go back to flipping burgers.

Agree firedawg - a college education is not cheap

I do understand that dangling big money in front of these kids is a big temptation - even though they've had the training to stay away from these guys

But many of them come from family's that are struggling - so I understand why they fall victim to the temptation knowing that it will hurt the school they represent - they feel they are helping their families

espn had articles about football and basketball problems around this issue - both agents and coaches - some commentators suggested that all sports should let them go to pro right out of high school - I guess then the agents would be on the high school campus's recruiting them - then middle school - getting a better education would be secondary

My fear is that if pro sports get their way - it would just about kill college sports

Guess I would have thought that with all the money espn is making off of college football - they would be more out front against the agents to protect college sports

These are mere kids we are talking about. Someone needs to protect them from THEMSELVES.
