Butler QB LeMay to face possible suspension
Butler High quarterback Christian LeMay, one of the nation's top college football recruits, could miss more than half of the 2010 regular season.
LeMay is accused of breaking a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' code of conduct rule, which could bring an out-of-school suspension that could last up to 30 days, sources said. He has a hearing Monday at the CMS East Learning Center.
CMS starts classes on Aug. 25. A 30-day suspension would keep LeMay off the field until October. Butler is scheduled to play 11 regular-season games. Seven are before an Oct. 15 game at Ardrey Kell.
LeMay, who has committed to Georgia, is generally considered one of the nation's top three recruits at quarterback. National recruiting website MaxPreps, which named LeMay its national junior of the year last season, ranks LeMay the No. 12 overall player in the class of 2011.
LeMay threw for more than 3,000 yards and 44 touchdowns with only two interceptions last season, leading Butler to a N.C. 4AA championship. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 nationally in preseason by MaxPreps.
Reached by phone Thursday night, Butler coach Mike Newsome and LeMay's father, Stacy, declined comment.

As an after thought, wonder when Coach Richt knew or found out about this problem facing CL. Feel sure he probably knew well before any of us bloggers. Strange thought keeps popping up in my mind. Recently we had a young QB/Basketball player say that he would attend UGA and play on the defensive side of the ball. Many wanted this young man to play QB in college. Just a thought. Coincidence in the timing with Nick Marshall?

Realize that CL will have his day before the officials, also understand that he is \"not guilty\" at this point. Bothers me when the length of the suspension reaches 30 days, as a possibility. Wlayton, this young man understands rules, guess we will know soon enough.
