CMR really needs to have in place or at least named replacements for the three vacant positions. So,...who's hearing what?...

Clearly, Kirby is at best an improbable long, blind shot. CMR would not have courted Chavis if Kirby was a viable option. Since Whiney Miles gave John a huge raise, we'll likely not see him in red and black. Foster and Koenning were eliminated earlier, leaving Grantham (Cowboys DL Coach), Jones (Saints DL Coach), Bennett (Pitt DC), DeRuyter (Air Force DC)....Anyone hear any other names???

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob Sanders but believe Grantham is the possible front runner.

I think I saw on another forum somewhere we were talking to Chuck Norris. ;-)

I want a defense that doesn't go hunting but goes killing.

On a serious note. I'm beginning to worry about why we haven't found anyone yet. I would have figured that DC at UGA would be a sweet job. Maybe I'm biased.

I thought about sending in my resume for the job but didn't think they would be too impressed with my 3 national championships and iron trap run defense on the Playstation.

Go Dawgs!!!!

Dallas is in the playoffs, that's why things are pointing towards Grantham. If it is him, the announcement could be even later.

NC_Dawg, when all of this plays out, believe that it will tell us a lot about Coach Richt that we do not at this point know.

If we come out of this extended period of not signing a DC, with someone that has not been stalled by reason of 'season not over', then I begin to wonder. Personally think that would be a mark against MARK. CMR is too heady not to have a serious signing lined up and in place without being beaten out by schools or teams on the dollar issue.

If the person selected happens to be a second, third or fourth choice, then cannot figure why he is not in place and on the recruiting trail. Know that CMR wants to get this selection right, being burned badly by his last DC, who was simply the wrong choice.

More and more it looks to me that the choice could very well be an NFL coach. If it was Sanders, he could be on campus now, so really don't know where this leaves us.

Surprising to me that Florida is doing so well with their recruits. UF has had a mass exodus of position coaches since the Meyer TV \"series\".

Dawgs need to get on with the program of bringing back a rock solid defense.

Thus far I've been impressed with the list of rumored contenders. The names and resumes indicate that CMR has set the bar rather high,...and perhaps he realizes his future may very well hinge on his selections...Of the names remaining, I'd opt for a hungry DC from the college ranks, rather than someone from the NFL...I'm a bit leary of someone coming from the \"Big Show\" down..but that's just me!

I REALLY like the resume of the Pitt DC, Bennett, but he is an A&M grad and with Kines recent retirement, following the dawg butt whipping, Bennett may be on their short list....Been doing some research on DeRuyter, Air Force DC,...and he sounds promising. AF plays a stout 3-4, with agressive QB pursuit. The D allowed only a meager 15.7 points per game scored last year and recently stimied Houston's vaulted O to only 14 points....Sounds VanGorderish!!!!

Time will tell,....for now, I'm hoping CMR lands a big fish and takes a positive step forward.......otherwise  ...........................!
