Tomorrow's Georgia-Kentucky game is significant in that both teams are already bowl elligible, so it is a battle to decide who doesn't get shipped off to college football's most boring bowl game. Given that the Dawgs are unlikely to beat the Nats, the loser probably goes to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, so it looks like a trip to the Music City bowl is on the line. If we win tomorrow AND beat Georgia Tech, we're probably looking at the Chick-Fil-A bowl, but could potentially get as good as the Outback, depending upon what happens with Mississippi, as they have LSU next.
The way I see the bowl picturing shaking out in the SEC so far is:
Bama/Florida winner: BCS National Championship Game
Bama/Florida loser: Sugar Bowl
LSU/Mississippi winner: Capital One Bowl
After that it gets kind of hairy with a bunch of 7-3 and 6-4 teams in the mix. If Mississippi beats LSU, LSU gets the Outback bowl. If LSU beats Mississippi and we beat Kentucky and Georgia Tech, we get the Outback and Mississippi gets the Chick-Fil-A. If LSU beats Mississippi and Georgia beats Kentucky but loses to Georgia Tech (most likely), Mississippi gets the outback bowl and we get the Chick-Fil-A. The Chick-Fil-A bowl would love a Georgia-Clemson matchup as reviving a discontinued traditional rivalry by two nearby schools would put butts in seats and be a huge moneymaker at the gate.
We lose to both Kentucky and Tech we get Shreveport because all other bowl elligible SEC teams will have either beaten us or have a better record than us at 6-6.
So yeah, alot on the line tomorrow, actually.
